Guys....we are not a play off caliber team right now. We're just not! I know many on here like to think so, but we're not. We've come a long long way in three years..and let's be proud of that! But let's show some reality too. Go Vols!

That's probably not that far off for Tennessee's position. We really seem like somewhere around the 7-10th best team in the country. I would love another shot at A&M in the SECCG. I don't think we lose that game a second time, even at our current strength. Bama on the other hand....we would need everyone back to even make a game of it, and if you are in the game at the end......well, that's why we play.

I just hope we win out and get a shot at the SEC. Even if we lose that game, it is a HUGE step in the right direction for the program and CBJ. Beat every team in the east in one season.....that is so far from where we were a few short years ago, who wouldn't be happy with that season. We can all dream of magic....but Team 120 has proven a lot so far, and they should be proud of who they are and their season so far at Tennessee.

Now don't F%$k it up.

If we're not healthy then we're not ready for the playoffs. If we're healthy then we can compete with most teams IMO

I agree. Making the SECCG every 2-3 years and winning it 1 in 2 or 3 of those is what I like in a team. Thats respectable. The years you win it you have a legit shot at the natty (but I consider the SEC C-ship more prestrigious).

If we win out easily, then talk will pick up going into the SEC championship game as we will be ranked in the top 10 again.

I'm typically not for running up the score, but UT desperately needs to win all 5 remaining games in convincing fashion.

So I post an article from cbs, that is only the opinion of a writer and all of the sudden I'm claiming the vols will go to Atlanta, beat bama and head to the CFP?

That would certainly be a GREAT year...if this becomes true. And it would borderline "exceptional year" considering injuries.

Most think we would NOT beat Bama in SECCG, hence why TAM keeps getting mentioned as a hopeful winner of the West, but I understand reading comprehension is tough for Gumps.

I'm not sure how you leave LSU off that list. They have a ton of talent, a new coach who doesn't constantly run into 8-9 man fronts, and their early losses to Wisconsin and Auburn are looking a lot better at this point. They should at least be top 20, if not top 15.

Agree. Until we start to recruit and develop elite offensive line talent, we won't be a playoff caliber team. I'm very happy with how far we've come and hope to make it to Atlanta. But realistically we can't beat Bama with our OL. They have NFL talent 2 deep at every position. We can't block their front seven and that won't change between now and December. But let's win out the regular season and go bowling and address those needs in the offseason.

As for the poll, I hate to say it but I would have Auburn and LSU as two loss teams ahead of us. Just based on how they are playing right now. I do like that they project Florida so low. They haven't earned anything yet. Go Vols!

I did not get that impression from any of the previous posts in the thread. It has been a strange season. On one hand, I am happy with 5-2 at this point in the season. On the other hand, if you look at the close calls, it is down-right disheartening. I have come to the conclusion that if there are no moral victories (as stated by opposing fan bases in previous seasons), then conversely, a win is a win. I also can't imagine not wanting a shot at the west champ. Just my $.02

So missing 20 players from the 2 deep and 3 of them are ALL-SEC defenders is an excuse? I don't think even Alabama would be able to withstand that. If we had half the amount of injuries we would have only 1 loss to Alabama and it would've been down to the wire. Did you not hear that we couldn't even dress 70 players for that game? Some people. Smh

We're not a playoff caliber team yet, but that doesn't mean we can't make the playoffs. It's 2016.

Sure we go whipped good by bama and had a ton of players out. Many teams have been whipped by bama. First game we have really got whipped like in a long time, we found ways to win and our schedule strength is high through 7 games. If we get healthy and win out the regular season, we will finish well. I will just leave it at that. GBO!!!!!

The only teams we can't beat IMHO are Alabama and Michigan. I think we have proven ourselves in most of the games we have played (and haven't played for that matter<<meaning we didn't show up). If Tennessee can get healthy and stay healthy, by season end, we could hit our stride. It's feasible to see us winning out. I think it's a little greater than a 50% chance minus the championship game. If somehow (doubtful) another team makes it to Atlanta, things could happen. And even with a healthy secondary, LB group, and O-line, it could get interesting...that's why you play the games.
