1) The NCAA ruled that Cecil Newton and Kenny Rogers had committed a violation, but Cam is eligible because he didn't know. Now they say this:

Put simply, had Cam Newton's father or a third party actually received money or benefits for his recruitment, Cam Newton would have been declared ineligible regardless of his lack of knowledge.

So now it wasn't a violation to simply solicit, but not receive. And if solicitation is a violation, it's clearly not one the NCAA is too concerned about.

2. Ohio State's players were given passes to play in the bowl because OSU had failed to properly educate them. Shouldn't the school get some sort of punishment for this? And shouldn't the players be retroactively ineligible for all the games they played since they committed the infractions, thus vacating every win?

Anyone who believes that the NCAA is in the business of governing college athletics in a non biased way is fooling themselves. The NCAA is in the business of making money and they are not about to hand down a ruling that would damage their bottom line.

OSU: Why on Earth would they suspend these players in one of the marquee matchups of the BCS? It would essentially deflate any interest the casual CFB fan would have had in this game and then the ratings would be down.

Auburn: This should be a no-brainer, they were caught (regardless of Cam's alleged ignorance) and nothing was done and why? Because you aren't going to rule the most marketable player in college football ineligible for the two biggest games of the year (SEC CG and NC).

The NCAA has zero credibility as far as I am concerned and they continue to show through their actions that they really are just making it up as they go. If you are marketable and make the NCAA money, rest assured nothing will happen to you and even if you get caught RED HANDED all you have to do is claim ignorance of any wrong doing and they'll let you off the hook. Shameless favoritism.

Miss St. should be the ones punished. Thats were these two former players/agents were trying to get the players to go to not Auburn. And some Miss St. assistents knew what was going on. Mike Slive said Miss St. didn't come forward with any real allegations untill mid point in the season when Cam turned out to be a big star.

The statement they released today concerning the receiving of benefits by family members was also a chance to strengthen their position before ruling Kanter ineligible permanently here in week or two.

That is a total mis-statement of the facts.

1. While Kenny Rogers is a former MSU player, he had no involvement with the program for a couple of decades. He was so out of the loop that he had to call a former teammate, John Bond, for help getting in touch with coaches and staff. Bond is deeply connected to the MSU program, but it appears that he's been more than happy to expose Rogers and Cecil Newton. Rogers concern was getting paid for helping Newton get paid. Rogers stood to benefit whether MSU paid up (which they didn't) or any other school paid up (which they might have).

2. MSU turned their info over to the SEC in January. Slive chose to sit on it. Eventually, MSU went over Slive's head and went to the NCAA in June. Auburn was informed of the possible infractions before Newton ever took a snap. Any school who cared about doing the right thing would have declared Newton ineligible as soon as they were aware of the infraction, and would have waited for the NCAA to reinstate him.

3. There was never a moment where Mike Slive was proactive on dealing with the Newton situation. In fact, he chastised MSU for going over his head.

4. While MSU had turned their info over to the SEC in January and the NCAA in June, the only reason that it hit the press mid-season is because John Bond chose to come public with what he knew. Bond's public statements came more than 9 months after MSU first reported the issues.

OMG.
this is total bs...Au did nothing wrong.. regardless of your alleged ignorance.... nothing was done to them because AU did nothing wrong.... IF there was a solicitation it was to ms st and the agent working for ms st(allegedly) should get in trouble.
again get over you guys obsession with Auburn and Cam.. he is eligible..NO RULE WAS BROKEN.
