Player's reaction could have been avoided by Hamilton (supposedly)

It is my understanding that although Coach Fulmer knew on Sunday, he was "advised" to wait until Monday at 4:00 to tell the players. Unfortunately, the decision was leaked to ESPN where most of the players heard the news. I think the fact that they had to hear it on ESPN first was one of the reasons why they were so upset. JMO.

And they were also told by Hamilton that they would have to watch on TV in another building. Hamilton ignored good advice and the fanned the flames. Don't blame this one on the Coach.

Orangepappy,

Not blaming Coach Fulmer at all! In fact, I know that Coach Fulmer's main concern in the announcement was for his players to hear it from HIM first, not ESPN. He was upset that it did not happen as planned.

FUlmer had all day to address the team. Why wait until an hour before the press conference? I think I know and I think MH knew why Fulmer had the 4:00 PM meeting with the team.

No way the emmotions were to calm down before the PC. Fulmer had the meeting to buy leverage, which he got.

That being said Fulmer had 150 wins and the wanted to beat General Nehland's record. He could during the next 3 years and the rate he was going.

Today Will be the 3 game that I have not attended this year . I udes to attend every game , home and away. Apathy has raised it's ugly head. Time for a change and go forward.

Hell, I was at the South Carolina game in 1992 when the rif between Majors and Fulmer erupted at half time in the locker room.

Later that year Majors had to hold his Press Conference in The Peabody Hotel In Memphis.
I would say Fulmer was treated fairly in comparison.

When You are drawing a $2,6 million salary with a 3-9 record you are hot earning the salary! Fulmer was fired for lack of productivity. As I remember Majors was fired because of his relations with alumni $$$$.

Buzz was let go because of empty seats Fulmer was let go due to an empty tank!! Wait and see what change brings. Failure in the next hire will let Fulmer backer say I told you so.

Success in the hire will mean the Fulmer backers will
be :mf_surrender:so quiet that you can hear a pin drop.
