Guess we will have a better understanding in a few weeks. Although anyone have any insight on pace of play we are going with? I honestly didn't think a lot about it until today that maybe the pace of play had something to do with the injuries. I think the biggest issue was S&C although maybe the S&C wasn't cohesive with the pace of play we were going with either? I always felt that our pace of play really defeated our defense in games. There is a huge difference in going 3 and out knocking 2 minutes off the clock compared to 1 minute or less. I kind of like how AU's offensive pace is. They are very deliberate until they get past the 50 then its wide open with 4-5 plays called ready to roll.

Pretty sure it was stated that we are going to have an Alabama type of pace. Get the play in, take up clock, let your offense and defense rest.

I think we only go up tempo in small bursts. For the most part its going to be slow , methodical, conservative, dont beat yourself and eat as much clock as possible and shorten the game and keep the D off the field as much as possible.. I dont see Vols airing out as much, ..

defense dictates what we'll do, but believe we'll be prepared to run many different looks out of our "pro-style" offense...gonna be good!!!!!!!!!

GO VOLS!

I like playing slow until you get field position then you can try some quick plays throw downfield etc. Our side of the 50 short passes, run the ball try to make first downs.

May depend on how much say WIll Friend has in things. CSU used some tempo during his time there, but it wasn't necessarily an up tempo offense for the sake of being up tempo. Rather, they'd run tempo occasionally to keep the defense from subbing if they found a matchup they liked. They'd also slow things down at times. I wouldn't be surprised if we see that at times.

Well maybe we were not 100% up tempo although we were lined up and ready generally as soon as the ball was spotted. The OL was sprinting to the ball most times. All I know is that I have never in my life seen a team give the ball up within 30 seconds of getting it as we would.

I trust that with 1st and goal at the 6 inch line it won't be a desperate rush to throw 3 incomplete passes! I suspect that there will be old fashioned huddles on 90+% of the plays. Pruitt's ego will be built on winning rather than any beloved "system."

To be able to go fast pace, you have to practice fast pace. You can slow down anytime you want.

I expect we won’t line up like we are going to give it to the RB going right to left and then give it to the RB going right to left. That alone will make our offense explosive.

Have you watched the Spring Game? The offense didn’t huddle. So I’m guessing that they will speed up when needed.

I personally hope we don't have a clue and it's a toss up until Sept 1. Anyone using the Spring game as an accurate assessment of our team isn't thinking straight. People forget the Spring game was little more than a base scrimmage made to look like a game. Our best players sat out, literally almost all of them....the rest weren't even on campus yet. Pruitt only showed us what he wanted us to see and it he didn't then I've seriously over estimated him. If they give enough info and video to give the Vol faithful a good idea of what to expect then you better believe WV will have a good idea too, it's not rocket science. All anyone has on us is an outdated scheme and hugely obvious plays they know we won't be using anymore, so grossly inaccurate preseason footage is all they will have. Why wouldn't we want everyone to underestimate us? Pride doesn't get you the W.

I think it will depend on the opponent and the drive. We didn’t need to play tempo versus WV, but if we’re running the ball down their throat don’t let let them make have the ability to sub. I think overall, ball control and clock management will be what need to have to succeed this season on offense. Especially against teams that will try to run 80-95 plays.

Hit quote then reply. That might work.

You got your point across. Anyone that has an issue with what you typed isn’t trying to get get what you wanted to say. I try to read a post as if the person is talking to me in a conversation rather than trying to bust balls over words out of place and such.

There is a time and place for multiple strategies. I expect CJP to have our team ready to do it all and employ the proper strategy at the right time.

WV is in the dark just like everybody else. I think we treat them poorly and ruin their season and use that top 20 win as a spring board to having a great season.

How great will this year be?

We’ll see. I think CJP&S will put game plans together that will give us a chance to win every game.
