Yeah, I've noticed that. But, I think that actually might be a good thing... It makes it hard to gauge Tennessee's offense. I don't think anybody can really say, with accuracy, how good they are. Makes it hard for other teams to judge them, too.

Sanders has had a relapse. The WR's ran alot of wrong routes again, 2 games in a row now.

In hindsight, the decision to place it in the hands of the D was the right thing to do. That being said, I wish we would have had that mentality on the "interception" drive. We had run and passed our way down the field for the longest drive by any team of the day. 3rd and 2 (I think) at the 4 or so. If we run and don't get it, likely fieldgoal and a 2 score game. We had also just held their O to 2, three and outs. A run had a chance since 1st and 2nd down yielded 8. There D was a tired as it was going to get. A successful run would have been demoralizing as well. I was pleading for a run at the time. If you look at the pass, even if the guy who got the Int didn't, there was no way the completion would have happened. 2 guys in front of the receiver. Actually, they'd have been better with the likely int in the endzone (field position). We got greedy.

Anyway, a Win is a Win. Go vols and lets hope we get the O clicking. We will need it against USC and ND, and hopefully Auburn.

I agree, I was yelling at the TV! To me 3rd and 1 should always be a run and especially inside the 10. Our offense didn't move well so playing close to the vest was maybe the right move.

Good win and GO VOLS!

"3 and 1 should always be a run" I don't buy that. How many on this board got mad after the fake punt against ole miss? If EA had thrown the right pass (which was supposed to be a fade in the corner to BS) and we got a TD how many would be mad? I dare say none and RS would be called a genius. If we made that TD we would have won by a much larger margin. The fade in the corner to a big reciever like BS is a very good call from where we were. If we miss we hit the FG. EA made a bad decision. Guess what? He's a freshman and that is what freshman do sometimes. Our D stepped up huge and we won the game.

I will take those play calls anyday in a win...Granted if Ainge had been crisp I would lite it up but his was not his best game and the recievers weren't helping much either tipped balls for int's dropped passes.

Our Defense has stepped up the last couple of games. had such Alabama down in the second half...

Exactly my point . . . Watching conservative offensive football can be maddening at times, but with a freshman QB, that's what we are going to get.

Complain about the play calling all you want, but people need to realize that they are on shaky ground criticizing the coaching of this team right now. We're 6-1; not 3-4.

Something else on the play calling. On our last series a lot of people are upset about the three and out. I thought it was not a bad call at all. Our Defense had been playing lights out. Bama could not throw to save thier lives, our QB and WR's were having an off game and sitting on the lideline is an all american punter (who we had no idea he was going to hit a short punt as he has been the most solid player the last 3 years that we have had and I still believe in him). That was a no brainer decision and the coaches did a great job. Against a team that could throw the ball you would have seen a different set of plays called but against a team that could only run and not enough time to run to get a TD it was the right call. The D was on and the O was off. I say you should always go with your strength at the end of the game. Our record in a rebuilding year speaks volumes. Way to go coaches and players. Now if we could just get the fans to quit booing a good job.

To be honest, I was anticipating at least 3 or 4 losses this year. Didn't really think the Vols would be 4-1 against Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, and Alabama.

The other recent years that the Vols broke in a freshman quarterback were 1994 and 2000.

In 1994, after 7 games, the Vols were 3-4. They finished the regular season 7-4.
In 2000, after 7 games, the Vols were 4-3. They finished the regular season 8-3.

I am in the same boat. I figured we'd lose 2 out of 3 to GA, FLA, and Auburn and lose at least 1 or 2 games we weren't supposed to. Of course, we're not out of the woods yet, but any season where you beat Florida, Georgia and Alabama is a successful one.
