Ok, I know there is a thing called the Internet, but I have found that personal recommendations work best.

My wife and I are flying up for the game, and it is our first visit to Pittsburg. Not interested in fancy places to
eat. Prefer nice sports bars, breweries, etc.

Flying up Thursday, and most of the day is in the air, getting rental car and checking into our hotel. Need a
recommendation for place to eat Thursday night.

Friday is wide open, but attending the Pirates/Cardinals game that night. Suggestions for things to see and
do during the day.

Saturday is wide open until game time. Suggestions for lunch and dinner.

Sunday is a totally free day. Suggestions for a short road trip or things to see/do in Pittsburg.

Monday, fly back to Nashville.

Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

Panini Bros for a sandwich is a must.

Mount Washington for dinner. Somewhere with a view of the city and go at night (not the 5 oclock bluebird special). View of the city is awesome from there. Pittsburgh skyline is very impressive

Its been awhile since i was there. Others may have additional suggestions. Go Vols! Its beyond time to beat these guys!

For dinner, there are plenty of options in downtown particularly around Market Square. E Carson St on the Southside is a long strip of bars, restaurants, etc. A few months ago there were some issues late night (after 2:00 AM) in that area but the police have increased patrols for the last couple months and I suspect that it will be okay come September. Fat Heads is basic place with good sandwiches, burgers, etc. on E Carson. Can also find good dinner options on Mount Washington with views of the city. Parking up there can be a pain so be prepared or park along the river and take the Duquesne Incline. If you want to go up Mount Washington for just the view, load Grandview Ave into your phone and it will take you up there where there are several overlooks.

The Strip District is historically where restaurants went to get their produce, meat, fish, etc. Now it has a number of places to eat plus delis, small markets, cheese shops, bakeries and the like. This is where the original Primanti Brothers is located (which I think is overrated). I’d recommend instead Wholey’s Seafood which is a seafood market with a restaurant with great fish sandwiches (get it on Mancini bread) or the S&D Polish deli for kielbasa and pierogi.

If you’re into museums and other high culture, there are the Carnegie Museums , the Andy Warhol Museum, Phipps Conservatory, the National Aviary, Fort Pitt Museum and the Pittsburgh Zoo. About 90 minutes outside of town is Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water house. Kennywood Park is unique 120+ year old amusement park with a lot of rides that are the last of their kind in the world including some pretty good coasters but it will be open only on weekends at that time.

Number of options to cruise the rivers with Gateway Clipper Fleet (including dinner cruises) from Station Square. Can also take the boat to the Pirates game or the game Saturday. There a several places to rent kayaks if you want to get on the water that way.

Decide whether you'd like to dedicate either Friday or Sunday to exploring Pittsburgh. The day you explore Pittsburgh, go to the Andy Warhol Museum and the Mattress Factory. The other day, take a drive to Fallingwater.

I have only been to Pitt one time, but really enjoyed it more than I expected to.

I wish I had eaten at some Polish places, but we DID enjoy a little Hungarian hole-in-the-wall place just north of downtown, Huszar.

We enjoyed the old Harmony Inn, but you probably won't have time to drive that far out of the metro area, Zelienople, miles to the north.

We did do a modest riverboat cruise -- very nice.

And I enjoyed the botanical gardens, science nerd that I am. Much of their displays are indoors, very well done.

That's all I got.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Pittsburgh but it’s a great city.

Check out Fat Heads Saloon.

The local alumni chapter is hosting a tailgate on a boat right by the stadium. It includes a one hour river cruise, buffet, and drinks. I can include a link if anyone is interested.

I was told to eat at Monterey Bay Fish in Mt. Washington. It is pricey and scenic, so it’s not exactly what the OP was looking for. But I’m going with my 77 year old dad and brother, and these trips are few and far between. We hope to really enjoy the 3 days together.

You could try to eat some Einz Ketcup wen in Pittsburg. Invented near the stadium.

They're sort of sensitive about out of towners leaving off that "h". Someone might tell you to go to ell, or worse, tell you to go to Piladelpia. They don't like Piladelpia.

Very good! We decided to go Friday night because we are getting in late afternoon on Thursday. Now I see - we are looking for more casual options, too. Enjoy!

I live and work in the Pittsburgh area. My suggestion for dinner is Chruch Brew Works in Lawrenceville, then head down the hill and walk around the strip district.

I live in Warren Pa, and this will be my first game in a long long time. The zoo is always fun, we will be doing that on Friday. Probably a pirates game that night also, depending on UTs game start on Saturday. D’s six pack and dogs is a good place to eat. Pamela's is a great breakfast spot. I saw someone mention fatheads also a great spot. Strip district is nice also. I would say look into air bnbs if you haven’t gotten a hotel yet. We have a group of ten so it was a way cheaper route than a hotel.
