Everyone see this? Makes me think about our AD. The boosters there have had enough. Don't you think the same would have happened here if Hamilton were as bad as some think?

If Dooley gets us back to the SECCG by 2013 and Bruce gets throug the current turmoil, does Hamilton wind up looking good with coaches as well as raising money? Some of the boosters may think so.

I can't believe they are putting this on the AD. The fans wanted a good coach for that program gone in Wannstadt. They were ecstatic with Haywood. It's not the AD's fault Haywood went bonkers.

AD's get none of the credit and all of the blame. Imo he should've kept Wannstadt.

What exactly was that good about Wannstedt?

Like a lot of football schools, they put too much stock in their history. It reminds me so much of Ole Miss when they let Cutcliffe go. They put too much in their worth. They are the #2 team in a state that doesn't produce a lot of D-1 prospects and don't even have their own stadiu on campus. I don't know about their facilities. Do they have a weak conference? Yes they do. However, Wannstadt was solid for them.

Wannie was not solid. The team was undisciplined and regularly underachieved. He recruited well for BE team but a good coach could dominate the BE at Pitt.

He never even got them to the BCS, did he? If you can't get to the BCS in a conference that bad, you're probably doing something wrong. I think their previous coach got them there.

Wannstedt averaged 9 wins a season his last three years. Same as Johnny Majors who averaged 9 wins a year his last three years before he left for TN. Why fire Wannstedt to take a gamble on someone unproven.

Cause he sucked? If he couldn't win the Big East outright when it's as bad as it is now, he's not a good coach.

And don't insult our own Johnny Majors by comparing their situations.

Majors inherited a 1-10 team and went 6-5-1, 7-4, 8-4, and 12-0. Wannstedt inherited an 8-4 team that won the conference and played in the Fiesta Bowl, and had records of 5-6, 6-6, 5-7, 9-4, 10-3, and 7-5. Basically, he had a couple non-humiliating years after Rich Rod left the best program in that dumpster fire of a conference in the hands of Bill Stewart. Yes, they were a co-champion this year, but UT might have won that conference this season.

2004 season they lost to Utah in the Fiesta Bowl.

I swear that the reason Foster hasn't left is take over for Beamer. But Bud is 51, and Beamer doesn't look he'll retire (he beats Boise, and Auburn loses to Alabama, he faces Oregon Monday).

Obviously TCU will dominate for a period, but I see South Florida giving them a run for it within two years. Check out USF's class for verbal commits. I also see UCF coming into the Big East soon and we see what they looked like against Georgia. Pitt should do better than it does tho no doubt.
