You would feel differently if one of those third stringers was your cousin playing in his first appearance in Neyland
True. That could be some kids last time playing in Neyland man. For whatever reason, when they go back to watch or their families go back for memories , instead of their loved ones being the focus some lame announcers are eating ice cream.

It was pretty bad, but you guys are being too hard on Cubelic. He shut up quickly after the first shot of him eating the ice cream because play had resumed. For some reason the director left the camera on him for a minute instead of going back to game action. The guys in the booth are a different story. They werent watching the game and we never saw the fumble live (just a replay while going to break).

No, I sure wouldn’t. Because I watch enough college football to know that there is never serious commentary in the fourth quarter of a blowout.

I give Cubelic somewhat ofa pass. He's roaming the sidelines trying to get the fans in involved in the broadcast of a blowout game. He actually does this quite a bit on SECN.

That clown show in the booth was inexcusable.

I thought maybe it was just me. I got so ticked off when they were eating ice cream instead of following Tayven Jackson's first time ever of playing college football, I was yelling at the TV. I know blowouts are boring, but they're supposed to be professionals.
Even if the game was boring to them, it isn't boring to Tennessee fans, who wanted to continue to follow the game to see who was in the game and who was doing well. They disrespected us and the game by ignoring what was going on on the field and focusing on their childish ice cream fantasies. They should be disciplined by their superiors.

I miss them so much. They were the best. I also miss Terry Donohue. He was a hell of a commentator on CBS in the 90s.
Those were the two I grew up to. Really enjoyed listening to them guys. It was a different time. I was around 10 Peyton was q.b and Tennessee seemed to be on top of the world. I believe thats when my love for the Vols began.

The 90s were a magical time for the Vols. I'm feeling like we are on the cusp of greatness again. A couple more great classes and we will be Atlanta. The playoffs is getting expanded to 12 teams too. Heup can flat out coach. We won't loose game in dumb ways anymore. We finally got us a HC Hoss

I miss the days of lining up against anyone in the nation, Knowing we had a legitimate chance to win.

I know its been a long time since we've had blowouts, and I know there is probably no reason to watch blow outs of other schools games, but....this is what happens in broadcasting when we have predicted blowouts. I can used to it.

Not if my cousin was Tayven Jackson. I'd tell him how lucky he was the commentators didn't pay attention to his garbage read-option execution.

I was appalled at the lack of professionalism by that game crew.

Sure, it's the 4th quarter in a blowout. Sure, they're going to liven it up a little, talk a bit about things outside the game. But they have to do that within the framework of the game itself. Can't turn it into an episode of The View. It's not a free-for-all to talk about anything. It is supposed to be a melding of game coverage with commentary.

That's not at all what they did. They utterly ignored significant developments on the field, like turnovers and 3rd, 4th, 5th string QBs coming in. They talked for minutes at a time about ice cream. And at another point, they spoke for five solid minutes about Alabama's football team. Complete with graphics, so it wasn't just the two talking heads, it was their producer and production staff, too. This was a group decision to go all the way off the farm.

Most crews who do this, they know to cut back to the play-by-play announcer. He calls the play, mentions anything important. Then right back to the other conversation. Then back to the next play. Back to the conversation. That's how professionals do it.

What we saw was unprofessional. It was a breakdown in the quality expected of folks who have been in the business as long as they have.

That is how I felt while it was happening. It is how I feel two days later. I hope they are feeling at least a bit embarrassed and devoted to doing better in the future.

It was the Mickey Mouse club. No real men left at the sports networks since ESPN dominates college football. Girly men to say the least.

Can’t wait till we win big games and get placed with the first team crew and avoid these announcers and Beth Mowins

If Beth Mowins calls one of our games, I'll listen to the Vol Network even with the 10-second delay.
