Pierre Niles commits

6-7 250lb Forward out of Memphis Ridgeway. Rivals 4-star and rated as #7 in Tennessee and #94 overall prospect. Good inside and outside player and plays solid defense. Was reportedly close to sigining with Tennessee and Buzz Peterson earlier in the year. However, he is best friends with Tyler Smith so after all that happened with Smith, Niles lost interest in the Vols.

Kemp is the priority recruit. We certainly need to add a true point guard in the current class.

Niles was never even a recruit after the coaching change. Never, ever in any interview since Buzz's firing did Niles mention an interest in UT. I don't know why rivals and scout continued to include UT on his 'interest' list. Not to mention with Niles and Chism it was an either/or recruitment. They play the same position and I think Chism is a better player so we came out on top.

Now, earlier somebody mentioned he wanted to see us still sign Kemp, Crews, and Weems. Now that person is keeping up with the recruiting and has a good eye for talent. I also think those are the biggest 3 that are left that might come to UT. Yeah, I know Young is still interested but I still consider him to be a huge longshot. One question though, since we did sign Passley doesn't that occupy one of the schollys meaning we only have 2 left? Just because he is redshirting doesn't mean he doesn't occupy a scholly, right?

I don't think anyone thought we were going to get him. It was just interesting to follow where he ended up.

I would think that Passley would count.

There will be some attrition among the players already on scholarship. We are not in danger of running out of scholarships or engaging in oversigning.

Passley has to sit out this year so Im not sure if he counts. We still have 6 to give we just were probably only gonna use 5. Apparently Niles likes to eat also as it was said in some articles he looked a little on the heavy side. Chism will be a monster and the only time we will hear about Niles is when we play Memphis.

Weems, Crews, and Kemp would make this a top 5-10 class.

If you add Crews, Kemp, and Weems to Chism and Johnson I would say that could be considered the #1 class in the country. Thats kind of a scary thought. Wow!

Don't you think Crews is a longshot at this point?

I dont think Crews is a longshot at all. He loves the style of basketball that Pearl plays.

That class would be high but it wouldnt be number 1...... I would say that Ohio St has that honor.

I am not trying to be a downer but I think Crews is a longshot. I think it's an accomplishment just getting a visit from this kid. If we were to get him....it would be a HUGE accomplishment from Pearl.

Do you have a rivals sub? I don't think Crews is a long shot at all either. In his interviews he has said that the name/tradition of the university is not going to have anything to do with his decision. He said that his decision would be based on early playing time, syle of play, and the people. With the people being one of the biggest determinants. He said that people are who you deal with on a day to day basis, not tradition or the name of the university. He sounds like a pretty smart level headed kid. He really likes Bruce Pearl and the rest of the staff.

I do. I have read the articles on him and I know that he "says" all the right things. I just think that in the end I will be suprised if he is not playing in the ACC next year. I hope I am wrong and I think it's entirely possible that Pearl could pull it of.
