You have to do that for the officials. I do the center field logo for our high school and that's one of the rules the yard lines have to be visible you just paint the color over the white lightly and it shows through.

We failed to do it one year and the referee about had a cow before the game about it.

It is amazing how well they get this field looking . I was at the high school camp in June with my son and there was very little grass, mostly sand and dirt. My son was like what happen to the field and I said by gameday it will look like green carpet. And it does , what a beautiful place. GBO!
