Phillip Fulmer very high on Venables and Chad Morris!

Feldman lost a lot of credibility on this search on Friday with his hearsay tweet about Fulmer’s Machiavellian scheming.

NO to both

So one produces national championship defenses and has been integral in Clemson beating UT for some of the best players in Tennessee... but "no", right?

Morris turned a doormat into a credible team in less than two years... took the O from one of the worst to one of the best with basically the same players... But you aren't interested in him either?

You probably want Miles... right?

Venables always has solid defenses. Has a lot of experience. And comes from a very good coaching tree.

I think there are better defensive coordinators out there, but I don't know how any of them would translate as a head coach. Just based on Venables history, seems like he might be the safest bet.

Who is Chad Morris? I'm tired of googling and am losing interest fastly.
The guy who helped save Dabo's career at Clemson, along with Venables. He has SMU at 7-5 this season. I think they were 1-12 when he took over. Great recruiter. I think he would be great with the right guy at DC.

Two very good coaches. I'd be happy with Morris and giddy with Venables

That has yet to be proven inaccurate. Just because he reports something you don't like doesn't make him less credible.

Yeah right, but it also doesn't make it true. And truth and credibility sort of go hand in hand. At least they did the last time I checked.

See Brian Ross if you are having trouble keeping up.

Venables maybe.

But I'm laughing that Morris was a terrible choice when Currie was leading the search, but now that Fulmer is leading it he's suddenly a great choice? GFTO.

SMU don't play nobody

Played 3 ranked teams this year... lost to all three due to overwhelming talent... but averaged 35 ppg due to Morris' ability to make something out of nothing on O. The only team that scored more against TCU was OU. SMU scored 36 with no one you ever heard of at QB... OU scored 38 with a Heisman favorite at QB.

TCU is currently 12th in scoring D nationally.

To be fair. They went 1-12 under an interim after June Jones resigned. Jones took over a 1-11 team and had them in bowls for the next four years.
It’s a little misleading to say SMU was awful before he took over. June had them in bowl games every year up until his last, when he went 5-7.

Coach at SMU. Offensive genius. Previously OC at Clemson.

Very good coach. The negative is that he has not proven he can win championships... yet.

No reason UT should need to take a chance on Chad Morris before he has proven himself. I'd definitely take Venables, but not a chance we should go after Morris. Im really not wanting to get into a "defending Butch" post, but the Butch hire was a much better hire at that point in time than a Morris hire right now would be. Butch had proven himself at 2 different schools, and competed for Conference Championships......Morris has done nothing more than "show improvement" at SMU so far. He's done nothing to warrant a fat contract and the keys to the car at the University of Tennessee! MANY other options WAY higher up the board. Even considering Morris this early would be a mistake in my eyes. A "no" to Leach or Tee or Les.....but hand the keys to Chad Morris? Should not be an option for UT

He worked with Kevin Steele in 2011

Jones' resume was as thin as the paper it was written on. He built a record on beating losing teams. The one year he faced a solid schedule at Cincy... he went 4-8.

Jones was never part of a successful major program before being hired. Morris gets major credit for helping Clemson ascend into a NC contender.

I'm not saying he's the choice. I am saying he's worthy of consideration. He can flat out coach.... something Jones could never do.
