Phil Steele projects the preseason Top 10 for 2016 | Fan Buzz

1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Oklahoma
4. Florida St.
5. LSU
6. Ohio St.
7. Michigan
8. Baylor
9. Stanford
10. Tennessee

I have as high of expectations for Tn as anyone, but I could not help but notice Michigan makes a great hire and so it is ok to expect him to turn it around in year 2.

I know I know we had worse roster right... but still even taking that into consideration, that is a huge jump to go to number 7 would be like expecting Jones to have had us in top 25 by year 2 imo.

I think it would be easier for teams that are not in the SEC.

Michigan wasn't a dumpster fire and also they always get overrated.

Imo...we were a double digit win team last fall but coaching let us down with that. We squandered hand full of games we were leading ...even with a not so great roster

Preseason opinions don't mean nothing....they didnt to FL last fall.

Beat Florida and the Vols are a legitimate top 10 team, if they lose that game, they are merely just another pretender!

After a decade of doom as a dumpster fire we're back in the top 10 where we belong....finally!

It's really good to see us finally getting some respect again.

OK boys, get to work and start climbing up that ladder game by game and don't stop until you're on top at the end of next season!

No letdowns and no excuses guys, you have what it takes to go all the way if you work hard enough from today on and stay totally focused in every game!

Tennessee footVol players...Building a Champion WIN by WIN...VFL...GBO!!!

Better roster and worse conference.

We would've been much better in 2014 if we played a big 10 schedule.

Glad to see us mentioned, all we got to do is Play to Win. By the way: 197 days until football

I'll go ahead and say that I think LSU falls well short of preseason hype ... again. I imagine FSU will be about there as well, but they are fortunate enough to be in the ACC.

Also helps that Harbaugh didn't have to take over a Dooley roster that didn't like to recruit for the O-line.

Exactly. Michigan's recruiting:

2012- 7th
2013- 5th
2014- 31st
2015(Harbaugh's 1st year)- 50th
2016- 4th

There was plenty of talent on that team in a weak conference. Butch took over a program with ok recruiting, terrible talent retention, and a really tough conference and out of conference schedule.

Tennessee vs. LSU tomorrow, neutral site.. who ya got?

UT. Here's the thing LSU has a lot of talent. I'm not sure their defense today is as good as our defense, but even if they are better than us it's not by much. And if we are better it's not by much.

On offense there are some similarities too. Lots of talent at WR but not a lot of production. Running backs they have an advantage but it's not enough to say they would win the game for them.

The difference is QB and special teams, we're way better in both.

UT 28 LSU 24. I'd say UT would win 6 out of 10 times.

True. But the results were starkly different. Harbaugh improves by 5 wins in his first year, whereas Butch improved by zero wins year one and by 1 regular season/2 total wins in year two. IMHO, while the programs weren't in identical situations, that shows/helps define the difference between an elite coach like Harbaugh and a good coach like Jones.
