He was on Rivals Radio this morning and said the schedule looked like a 2-6 start (victories over UTM and UAB) and then a 4-0 finish to qualify for a bowl game.

Told my dad the same thing the other day. I hope I'm wrong, but it's definitely possible.

new staff + new qb = low expectations. I'm sure most the country would agree with that prediction at the moment or at least say it is very realistic.

You know I disagree with that....Georgia has had quarterback issues and I'm not convinced that they end up taking a great fall since Richt is on the hot seat. We'll just see but I really think that there is more talent on this Vol team then it's given credit for---there just is no depth to speak of...so it could go either way..any kind of major injury and there could be trouble...it's going to be kind of like last years team things just broke right at the right time and we got to a good bowl game.

at think its very unrealistic to thing that we wont beat anyone good all year. Which is why its unrealistic to pick games at this point anyway

I really think the team improved around the Georgia game...people were worried last year if we were going to post a losing record. Yes I understand we got whipped by Ole Miss and Virginia Tech but I really thought the team played better around that point. A kick here and a touchdown there and the season might have been different call me the optimist!

I think Oregon looms huge. If we can pull the upset, we could get some serious momentum through that stretch. I'd say LSU is the next best chance as well.

However, if we do end up 2 - 6 (and it's absolutely possible, even if the team plays well), it will be difficult, IMHO, to make that 4 - 0 run.

Oregon is huge for us next year.

I agree with this, it seems that we would be pretty beat down mentally and physically if it got to that point making it a tough 4-0 finish regardless of who we play.

I totally agree...Oregon is still BCS level Masolli or not...it'll be like Va Tech all over again except we get them at home. We beat them maybe we could carry some momentum for the rest of year.

I agree and a win over Oregon will give Tennessee much needed confidence as well.

A few people seem to think we have a shot at LSU. I understand Les Miles is over rated and all, but I think that's a huge stretch. They still have lots of talent and LSU is a tough place to play. I can see possibly pulling a win over Georgia and Ole Miss. I think a win at South Carolina is possible but it will be tough. I think the fact Oregon is traveling across country playing in front of a large and loud crowd and breaking in a new QB on the road even gives us a small chance there, but LSU, I just don't really have that one marked down as a win.

he got trent richardson 4th team all sec.

He is way wrong about a couple of teams each year. Last year it was Oregon, who knows this year.

Glad to see someone other than myself being optimistic on here....way to many Nega-Vols roaming the lot these days.....it is what it is.....no need to drive it into the ground.....we'll be very competitive this season IMO....and that is what trully matters given the circumstances.

Lsu has quarterback issues as well. There quarterbacks were terrible last year. They also have the worst coach in the SEC. I wouldn't rule that one out. We should have a decent chance against Ole Miss. South Carolina is a game we can win. They usually play use tough though. I think Georgia is on it's way down. We have had their number lately. I hope we can keep it up. Oregon is going to be a tough game, but I would not rule it out as a possible win. Traveling all the way across the country is always hard on a team.

I think 8 wins are possible. I'm not saying it is going to happen, but we have a chance.

LSU has talent and no coaching. Les almost lost tot La Tech last year. Dooley gets a chance to prove that it wasn't a fluke with a lot more talent and an overall upgrade in coaching staff too.

South Carolina is South Carolina regardless of where Tennessee plays them. The Cocks lost a lot of defense and Garcia has yet to be anything besides mediocre.

Ole Miss lost more than Tennessee did in regards to talent.

Why this is stupid: ANYONE CAN MAKE THIS PREDICTION. Football just doesn't work that way. Just doesn't. The more and more I see things like this the more and more I think we're not going to be half bad. And this is coming from someone who, right after the hire of Dooley, was like. Damn. We're screwed.
