Phil Fulmer, the former Tennessee coach and current analyst at CBS College Sports, apparently has an itch to get back into coaching. But not just any old school, according to Brian Henry of the Chicago Sun Times, Fulmer wants the Notre Dame job.

Fulmer is a big name, obviously, but he also sits in direct contrast to what Notre Dame seems to want: a youthful coach with his best years ahead of him. Fulmer has been a great head man and is an effective recruiter, but he's also nearly 60 now. The rumors of coaches like Brian Kelly, Randy Edsall and Bob "I'm not a candidate" Stoops all show that the Irish administration wants an energetic coach still brimming with youth in his voice.

Fulmer is exactly what they need. UT is similar to Notre Dame in that they recruit nationally. He has the experience and drive to get it done. Even more, he won't be facing an SEC schedule this time.

Perfect fit, but it will never happen. Notre Dame needs hype around it's program. Fulmer won't bring that. Realistically, only Meyer brings a lot of hype to Notre Dame.

Prepare to merge. This topic was ran in the ground on another thread. Fulmer isn't getting ANY D-1 job. The man is delusional----'course I am reminded every day that there are a lot of stupid people out there.
Is there an AD THAT deranged?

Now for the zapper-----------------------

Perfect fit? Do you in terms of recent downward trends due to awful coaching?

ND will never be what it once was. It can be better than what it is, but the glory days are over.

Perfect fit? You're not serious are you?ND doesn't need hype, even if they don't deserve it, win or lose they are one of the most hyped teams in the nation.

ND will hire the team that gives them the best chance to win, regardless of age, color, or religion. They are tired of losing and underachieving.

What they need???? Go from losing half their games now to being destroyed from within like we were?

I understand your thinking and the type of recruiting Phil did. Yes, he just might be the man that can bring in the worst of society from LA to New York, Detroit, Miami and every nook and cranny and every gang from every corner of this country. Ha! Notre Dame could then change from the Fighting Irish to the Fighting Gangsters!

Fulmer may want the Notre Dame job but he will not even be considered for it! He needs to stick to trying for gigs like Louisville or less.

I will love to see Coach Fulmer got this position, so I can continue enjoying the Notre Damned beat down for the years to come.

Fulmer is a joke ....he will never coach at a big time school again....he has already said he wants to go to a place that has great facilities and can compete for championships...who dpesent?...people in hell want ice water!! He wants to go to a place that is already set up to win so that his fat butt doesnt have to do much and where his huge ego wont be tarnished. Most of these teams with resources and facilities are taking the Tennessee approch by looking for a young energetic coach who can relate to players of today. So unless Fulmer is ready to check his ego at the door and take a job at a lesser school he will never coach again

he's a caricature of himself at this point... he used to do this every year in the 90's... the dolphins had contacted him, etc. :eek:lol: why doesn't he just by a house on the lake and go fishing...

so? you dont agree?

I DO agree that Phil is not a great coach, and Im super glad that he is gone and that we have Kiffin, but I think Phil is a good coach. I also think the world of the man that allowed me to witness one of the best things on this planet.....a national championship for OUR Vols, and for that I will always be grateful, and never bad mouth the man that gave so much for this university.

ND needs a coach that can pull them up from average. When has Fulmer ever done that?
