PFF: Highest graded NFL rookie safeties - Nigel Warrior

If Warrior is indeed the highest rated rookie safety, what does that say about pro scouting?

Because, how do you not burn a draft pick at least in the last rounds on such a player? Such a pick would have incredible value.

I think that a lot of pro scouts have gotten lazy. It’s almost easier to let ESPN Gameday tell you who is good than to go figure it out on your own.

If he would have had great coaches his entire career things would have been very different.

This.

So much this.

The guy is Dale Carters son, in his 2nd season in CJPs personal position group he has an all SEC season, perhaps the best season by a safety nation wide considering who he had to cover (SEC best WR) and tackle by the dozens (SEC best RBs)....

Yet he just couldnt stay on the field without getting torched or taking bad angles in the run game the ENTIRE TIME Botch was his head coach...

CJP is probably the best DB coach in the country...without orange shaded glasses...and has a long history of putting corners and safeties in the NFL.

So glad we have a real ball coach now ..

Safety is all about scheme fit. Hopefully he goes somewhere that uses a physical, in the box, safety and has success.

Edit: just saw he’s in Baltimore. Great fit. They play a lot of safeties and used Thomas in the box a lot
