As much as I love Peyton, if Ole Miss isn't on probation in '94 we're not having this discussion.

You just wouldn't understand, Sly. As a loyal Titans fan, I've grown to despise him over the years. Sure, for the longest time, I was a Titans fan first, and then I'd cheer Peyton on after the Titans season went to crap, or they were eliminated from the playoffs.

But, I think it's the bandwagon TN fans that talk so much smack, proclaiming themselves "Colts fans," that got under my skin. Over the years of having to watch "our guy" beat us out for the playoffs almost every single year, I grew to dislike Peyton a little.

I was ready to welcome him with open arms. I don't wish any physical harm on him, but I hope he never wins a thing in Denver. Although a healthy PM could almost make the playoffs by himself, I hope he gets embarassed in Denver.

I don't understand. Are you saying the Titans logo speaks for itself? Well, apparently not. Not in this state, anyway.

I wish I had absolutely no team loyalty like most of the peeps in Knoxville.

nope. saying your comments were a reflection of your loyalty to the Titans and understand they were made as part of your frustration in losing out on getting him.

lol, so you've always been an oilers fan, or did you jump on the bandwagon when they came to TN?

This notion of having to always root for the home team is about as dumb as it gets.

Yes, I became a Titans fan when they moved to TN. You got a problem with dees?

The idea that you can willy nilly follow the winningest program in each league, programs like the Lakers or Yankees, and feel some sort of gratification when "your program" wins is a little silly to me.

Following a program that is close to home, that you can actually go watch, makes more sense to me.

so, by this logic, I should have been a Lions/Tigers/Pistons/wolverines fan when I lived in michigan, but now that I live in Denver, I should follow the locals?

I follow the Bucs and the USF Bulls in order to support the local economy and become a part of my community.

I'm not gonna say you "should" do anything. You do whatever you want. I just don't understand people that can do it.

When Lebron went to Miami, I told myself I was gonna be a Heat fan, because it was so much fun to watch all those superstars play together. I watched maybe one game all year and didn't even watch them in the playoffs.

To each his own.

If I moved somewhere else, the titans would be first in my heart. But yes, I would also follow the local team, most likely. I need a connection to a team before I can root for them.

For a lot of Vol fans, that connection was Peyton Manning. But I can't be a fan of an entire organization because of just one player. Some people can. Good for them.

I do not follow Memphis tiger basketball because I do not want to support the local economy.

see, I guess I am one of those people. at least in respect of being a fan of the lakers and yankees. for me, I was a fan of Magic growing up. him being from michigan and going to MSU, naturally I followed him when he went to the nba. my dad and older brother were yankees and vikings fans so by osmosis, I became a fan, and mattingly is my all-time favorite player. mind you, this was during a time when it wasn't so fashionable to be a yankees fan.
