I live in Minnesota close to lake Minnetonka. I noticed several cameras and a filming crew in one of the bays yesterday. Come to find out it was Peyton and John Randle out on the lake getting a little fishing in, filming an episode of Peyton’s places. Wished I would’ve known. I would’ve went and put a line in the water. It’s been super cold this week though and didn’t see that they had a house setup. Can’t imagine they were out for very long. I was out there this past weekend and was parked on a solid 18-20 inches of ice.

Is Peyton still really involved at Tennessee? I have just heard so much and it's hard to know what is true and what is not.

Has anyone here been ice fishing? I have been several times but years ago. Lake Okoboji in Iowa. Clearest fresh lake water allows you to see way down..
Ice houses complete with wood burning stoves are the way to go.

I went bass fishing early one spring, it was sunny, cold and the wind was blowing. Ice was forming on the line(Spiderwire Fusion) and the eyelets of the rod. Maybe it’s late winter, either way it was cold. The fish weren’t biting what we were slinging. I should have went pro.

My wife and I have a trip planned down there the end of February. The walleye and Perch down there are supposed to be phenomenal fishing. We’re looking forward to it. We try to hit a different lake every weekend. We love ice fishing. I will take it over open water fishing.

Some of the slowest bites are when a -30 front moves through it makes for a severe pressure system and it almost shuts the bite down. The good thing is bass and walleye are opportunistic biters so if you just so happen to have the right bait at the right time they’ll strike. My problem is I can’t seem to find that perfect bait at the right time🙄

Top water
Crank bait
Spinner bait
Plastic worm/lizard

Live baits
Minnows
Red wigglers
Crickets

I always bring crickets when the kids are involved, when I can’t the bass biting for them, float fishing with a cricket usually avoids the skunk.

I’m still trying to find an inline spinner that produced bites one summer back in the day. Similar to a rooster tail, but didn’t have any of the feathers. Mepps Elix with vibrant technology. I picked one up at a Walmart and was wearing the bream out with it, to make things more interesting I went light weight on my gear and the next thing I know something grabs it bows me up and heads for deep water and breaks my line all in the same motion. I went back looking for another one but no dice. I
Don’t do light action anymore either.

I got hung up once and as I pulled hard enough to go ahead and break the line I could see a fish roll over as the line broke. Same area my son caught a 7+ pound bass. Got to be more careful.

Peyton could be filmed grocery shopping and people would watch. Love him and Eli on MNF simulcast. Makes me laugh.
Funny you say that! He was at the Hy-Vee in Cedar Falls Iowa doing a bit for his show. They were recapping Kurt Warner and his NFL journey. There are pictures of him and Dallas Clark on Main St. and throwing paper towels in the middle of the store.

I’ve always found that M-80s or a 1/4 stick of dynamite brings em to the surface. They don’t call me dipnet daddy for nothing.

Back in the day I found a shocker real cheap. I never had the nerve to put it to use. My fear was that it would shock me out of the boat and the water and then really get me.

I care more about our team now, could care less what Peyton is doing! Good grief!
Peyton is still the number one ambassador for our brand. Don’t underestimate the impact he has on recruiting. Every time he shows up on TV, young players hear and see Tennessee. We never will know how many kids had that first seed of interest planted in their minds from seeing Peyton
