Peyton and Tee

I am happy with Butch's hires so far. Tee's comments about Hurd alienated him from a lot of fans, me being one of them. I think Butch needs to hire the best coaching talent when he has an opening and it should not be based on seemingly owing someone a job because they were on a national championship team. If Tee is the best, they by golly hire him, however the OC slot isn't open anyway, and may not be for a while.

I stand corrected. But, I still don't understand all the hate for a guy who won a title. I'm sure his life decisions are bigger than TN football.

Everyone doesn't hate him.1) Butch offered him a job. He turned it down.2) Tee made a bad comment about Hurd and it was caught on audio. His son rejected Tennessee and is going to go to Clemson and is actively trying to persuade others, Higgins, to join him. To some people, and they're not wrong for their opinions, Tee doesn't seem to be all that loyal to his alma mater.

What he did, or should I say that what he was blessed to be a part of was 18 years ago. That is along time.

Agree with almost everything you just posted...Butch offered him the job the season BEFORE his comments tho.

Was he not the starting QB for the NC Vols? That is a fact!!! I won't get into the uncalled for bickering.

'98 was a special TEAM effort. Tee played his role, just like the other leaders, just like the other players and I'll be forever indebted to him as a lifelong Vol fan for being the quarterback on that team.

He did a lot of good things, had some good games, had some horrible games. We won because of him a couple times and won despite him a couple times.

To try and boil it down to he "brought a NCAAF championship back to Knoxville" as a point of differentiation from Manning, who was miles better as a collegiate QB at Tennessee is simply wrong and attempting to, if not rewrite history, then to severely misrepresent it IMO.

Should have named the street after Al Wilson instead of Tee Martin. But it was PC to name it after the QB since Peyton Manning had one.

Tee's been shown plenty of love. Not sure he cares though. He's too big time to hang around us hillbillies anyhow.

I agree with 99% of what you just said. There is no comparison as far as overall career achievements. Peyton was/is by far the most decorated. However, Tee was a major cognizance to that title team and was a LSU loss away from having the opportunity to defend that title. (if not mistaken). My statement in no way was a jab at Peyton but more so acknowledgement of Tee's success.

You're mistaken...Arkansas and Florida for Tee. LSU was Casey Clausen.

A turncoat never loses his spots. We really don't need him. Be glad the Tee show is not playing in Knoxville.

We should have a Clint Stoerner Avenue.
