Petrino

And a UT player has to try really hard to be a castoff
Reminds me of what a coach said to me when UCONN rescinded Ramar Smith's scholarship offer. "Do you realize how devoid of character a guy has to be for Calhoun to pull the plug before he even gets to campus?"

I'd rather have Houston Nutt than Petrino... so would most Arkansas fans. I just hope we don't make the same mistake by hiring someone worse than Fulmer.

They love him. And as much as everyone dislikes him he will win at Arky. Book it. Or at least at a better clip than they are used to.

Bobby Petrino will play in exactly the same number of SEC championship games in his tenure at Arkansas as Bobby Johnson will at Vanderbilt. First, you stand behind Fulmer three years too long. Now, you try to pass an imbecile like Petrino off as a winner. Beef, glad you're not in the coach picking business.

The stubborn fans do. Petrino is a much better recruiter, but I think Nutt is the better coach. I was at the Ole Miss / Auburn game, and everyone thinks Nutt is the best thing to happen to that program since Eli. Like someone said before, Petrino rode Brohm all the way to the NFL. I agree with you that Arkansas will win again with Petrino, but I don't see it being any better than what Nutt was able to do with them.

Hope our replacement takes us to heights unachieved by Fulmer this decade. However, that will take time.

I'm not in anyway shape or form trying to pass him off as anything except being a better coach than Nutt.

Thinking about what could have been. But then again for the right price I am sure Bobby could give one of his infamous press conferences where he says it has been his lifelong dream to be the head coach at UT.

When I think about what could have been, I think about hiring Butch Davis after the 2005 debacle.

I don't get the hate for Houston Nutt. Off-the-field stuff aside, he was a good coach. He had Arkansas competitive while the Texas' , LSU's and Oklahoma's of the world were strong, meaning his pipeline to talent was squeezed. He's not doing a bad job at Ole Miss. He beat Florida, which Fulmer has not done in a while.

Don't forget, in his first year, Nutt coached the Arkansas team in '98 who was picked to finish last in the West, but if not for a Clint Stoerner fumble would have beaten us and denied us our National Championship.

I disagree with you. Nutt is one of the worse coaches ever.

Nutt is the third winningest coach in the conference. He took a team that was picked to finish dead last to a 9-3 record his first year (and was one Stoernover away from an SEC Championship Game), suffered 2 losing seasons in his tenure after they had 5 losing seasons in the 8 years before he came.

He's about to have an Ole Miss team that hasn't had a winning season in 5 years bowl eligible in his first season.

Nutt has more wins than Bob Stoops, Nick Saban, and Rich Rodriguez.

Worst coach ever? Give me a break. Houston Nutt is a freaking good football coach.

Nutt is a good football coach without a doubt.

I live in Louisville and B. Petrino is one heck of a college coach. He didnt need Brohm I promise you that. Hunter Cantwell looked like a first round draft pick playing for him. Ragone didnt look too bad either. I hated it when he went to Arkansa because I truely believe that they are not going to be any fun to play in the future. Granted Louisville could have been a fluke but they were exciting to watch when he coached and other teams didnt wanted to play in Papa Johns. I think his credibility has been tarnashed (sp?) but in a couple of years if he gets his players he will light up a scoreboard and be on everyones wish list. Personally to me the road to NC is easier through Louisville than the SEC.

If memory serves correct last year about this time there were alot on VolNation that thought he would be the one to get. As far as the mess he left who knows, I do know he got the most out of his players because they were scared to death of him.

To each his own. I just hope we get someone that can get Tennessee Football back to where it should be.

Forget UT's title...if not for that, Arkansas may have won one of their own that year. They were 8-0 coming in, and I don't think there's anyway they'd have lost to Mississippi State the next week. An easy win over DiNardo's LSU team, a rematch with UT, and a possible national championship game.
