That idea is laughable. Petersen wouldn't go there. Nobody wants to be there, I don't even think Arkansas people want to be there.
Watch out, that Arky hillbilly BleedingTangerine will tell you that you are stupid and Arky is paradise
If this is true, and I'm still very skeptical, then I will not be happy at all. If Petersen is really willing to leave, he should be our number one target, even over Gruden.
Would be stunning considering all of the better jobs he has turned down last few years.
Exactly.
He turns down UCLA, a school sat right in the HEART of a recruiting hotbed, for (reportedly) $4+ million salary plus $3 million for assistants.....only to accept the ARKANSAS job for what I can only imagine would be similar compensation???
...and doesn't one of his kids have a medical condition which has (at least one of the reasons) kept him in Boise for so long?
He wouldn't leave Boise for LA but he'd leave for Fayetteville?
I'll believe it when I see it.
The headline on that article is totally misleading. When you read the article, it basically says two things: (1) Arkansas is interested in Petersen; and (2) rumors are that Petersen is returning the interest. Neither is earth shattering. If they aren't interested in Petersen, they should have their heads examined. And we more than most know that rumors are just that--rumors--and saying Petersen has "interest" could mean everything from he's never talked to anyone at Arkansas to he has signed the deal.
No I didnt. What I have said in essence was that prior to last November when I went there with friends from Knoxville to see us play the Razorbacks, I was surprised at what I saw.
I expected to see people who looked like your avatar and a town that resembled Deliverance.
What I saw was a very progressive community. An area that was obviously doing very well economically with many neighborhoods of million dollar houses.
I found out from many locals that the headquarters of Walmart nearby has brought in many very large corporations with high paying jobs. Everywhere you go you are impressed with all of the "newness". It was impressive to say the least.
Both of my parents graduated from UA back in the 70's and all I had to go on was what they both had described to me. They had not been back to Fayetteville since the mid 90's.
Having my expectations so low is probably why we were so impressed.
Another thing we got to witness was the facilities upgrade plan, some of which was already underway. It was 300 million if I recall.
I was there with the parents of a current vol player. My buddy had went on his sons official visit to Arkansas the year prior and his words were that they were "blown away" by what they saw. Again, they had low expectations and came back feeling like Arkansas had the best facilities in the SEC at the time. They will tell you today that our new facility does put TN back ahead of Arky, however they expect to have their new facility complete sometime next year.
Noone knows who Hart is speaking to and who he is considering for the job. For all anyone on this board knows Hart could have interviewed Petrino, Cutcliffe, Golden and Fulmer last week. Just because the fans claim the list is Stoops, Patterson, Gruden, and Saban does not mean it's accurate. We'll know who the new coach is when Hart lets us know.
