God some of you are so dumb.

Do you not understand that every championship team experiences adversity?

I've never seen a team regardless of the sport cruise to a championship. Every team faces tough games and tough moments. They have flaws and weaknesses.

It's sports. Guys like you who predict defeat before the season provide nothing. Your just negative people.

This is a championship team that can beat anyone they play. Shut up. Sit back and just enjoy the ride.

Excuse me, but this is quite a different tone than you had earlier in the offseason. But I expect nothing less from D4H. Adversity? Flaws? Weren't you the one spouting off that we were going to blow by most of our opponents, especially Florida, and beat them down? I distinctly remember you saying we would blow them out.

It's just funny hearing you start to talk about how we have flaws when for so long you were predicting a cakewalk to 15-0 with the exception of the Bama game.

We will blow Florida out.

34-13.

1995 Nebraska football
2009, 2010, 2014 and 2016 UCONN womens basketball
1972 UCLA basketball
1976 Indiana basketball

These are just a few teams that have cruised to championships. Its rare but it happens.

Exceptions that kind of prove the rule. If these are the only examples you can think of of then it kind of proves his point.

I think some people get this mentality that we should play perfect and not have any flaws.

Now do I think we are a championship team? I dunno. I was one of the "pump the breaks before the season starts" kind of guy. Do I think this team has a shot, yes. But a lot of things have to our way and this is not a team without flaws or concerns.

So tell me how Dobbs is supposed to do anything behind this line?

You guys keep saying we won't beat anyone with this o-line. Then you turn around and say Dobbs can't throw eventhough he gets no time behind a porous o-line.

Which one is it?

Or do you just like whining?

Did you watch the Ole Miss v FSU game? Francois was pressured and hit MORE than Dobbs has been. On numerous occasions, Ole Miss had jail breaks against his OL. He stood in and delivered the ball.

I like Dobbs and he has his strengths. But even his best plays this year were not good passes. Both scoring passes to Malone were late and short. They were 50/50 balls that Malone won. Had they been thrown on time and accurately.... Malone makes the catch in stride and scores without being touched.

To be fair no one is expecting Dobbs to throw perfect passes. He put it where his receivers could make a play on the ball and they did. Just like the Jennings catch in the end zone. Not a perfect pass but it was where his guy could make a play and Jennings fought for it and won. That's all Dobbs has to do for the passing game.

How successful are they? Do you see how little we hit our TE (who is our best receiver) on quick hits? How often do we throw a slant? How often do we throw the ball up and let our big guys go get it?

I think you are spot on in your assessment. Debord is not calling enough plays like this that make the defense pay when the middle of the field is wide open. Plus quick slants and passes to the tight end will help our running game. I know this is my biggest frustration because as it has been said numerous times, we have the talent to beat anyone. Just have to call plays that are designed to our strengths.

I would like to see dobbs throwing to Malone more. That dude is nfl ready. Malone and AK should get the ball much more, you can only run Hurd so many times up the middle, I fear injury. That guy takes a pounding.

We are on an 8 game win streak and are in the process to add more to it, while at the same time starting some more win streaks against Florida and Bama, and extending win streaks against the rest of the east teams and A&M.

Plan A is still in play.

You have to understand the context. Dobbs4Heisman is delusional and sees no weakness or flaw in Dobbs.

He puts many of us who really like Dobbs in the uncomfortable position of frequently pointing out his shortcomings.

Not buying. We've been told for 4 years now to wait. Give it time. Brick by brick. It takes time to rebuild a program..... on and on ad nauseum.

If we're in year 4 with ALL Butch recruits and the end product is something we have to "pump the brakes" on.... then OUR concerns going back to the start are TOTALLY vindicated.

That said, IMO, the difference between where UT is and were we all expected them to be is choosing the right personnel group on the OL. IMO, that DOES include Jack Jones and DOES NOT include Drew Richmond at this time.

Expect a bunch. I do. Until they lose though I won't give up on the idea they will. Even if they are all ugly wins. No east champ has looked unbeatable or gone unbeaten in years. So why do we assume UT has to be Bama before it's even Mizzou?

O-Line has been a disappointment, but to me I saw some improvement last week and believe we will continue to improve. Since this thread is titled "perspective," I wonder what the comments were on the Arkansas sites after week 1? What about the Georgia site after week 2? Certainly LSU in week 1 and Florida in week 1 would also have a lot of negative comments. Georgia in week 1 was dramatically different in week 2. We are an imperfect, but talented team that has won 8 games in a row and we will win a lot of games this year. If I were one of our opponents, I certainly would not feel over-confident playing against Tennessee.

Well put. My point from your perspective. We can still achieve our goals.

This fanbase reminds me of the SNL skit "Lowered Expectations"

I guess it is due to the teeth kickings and crotch shots we have taken over the past decade due to our love for the VOLS.

Well, I remember a time when we were very good and expected to win every game.

I expect to beat UF now. I expect to win the East. I truly believe 120 is the first UT team in several years that also believes that. That does not change the fact that we might look damn average doing it. None of the last several UF teams beat us in any dominant fashion.
Win ugly, win horribly, just win.

Look at Clemson...even talented teams take time to find their groove. AL last year.

I'll take 10-12 "ugly" wins. I just don't think it is realistic to expect that based on these first two games.

Again, I think it comes down to OL personnel. Either Thomas or Richmond IMO needs to be out and Jones needs to be in. The OL improved when he was in.
