Today, Fulmer named Robert Ayres, Ramon Foster, Lucas Taylor, Ellix Wilson, Montario Hardesty and Eric Berry as captains for the rest of the season. Previously, captains were named on a game by game basis.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure how much difference it will make but I like the move.

Maybe it will help define clear leadership roles? Anything at this point.

I hate the game-by-game captains. It doesn't establish true leaders imo

This is what you do when you don't have any leaders on your team, so you try to force guys into that role.

Nothing wrong with the move. I'd call it a bad sign that Fulmer felt like he had to change it up, except that things are already so far in the toilet that there really isn't such a thing as a "bad sign" anymore.

Hardesty over Foster? Interesting

Doesn't surprise me. He's just never been that type of guy. But I didn't see Hardesty as one either.. he seems very reserved but that's because I've never really read his interviews.

 Amen, brother.. Game-by-game captains is like grade-school kickball... everyone gets a chance.

On the other hand, 6 captains sounds like a lot... Why not have just 3: 1 on offense, 1 on defense and 1 as our "special teams coach".

I just read the article on the home page and wonder what does this say to the other teammates knowing they won't get a chance at being captains? It's great that he's rewarding the ones he thinks are the leaders on the team but do you think other teammates will feel like they are not good enough to make Fulmers top dog list?

Hardesty over Foster? Interesting

I thought that was interesting as well.

BTW, didn't we have a captain controversy back in 2005? Didn't they change up who were the team capts then in order to try to find leadership on the team? I'm sure there was so talk about Rick Clausen and Mahalona being captains or something...

I agree. There should only be three or four captains and should be elected by the team. For the season, before the season.

agree....leaders dont slowly step up through the season, you see them in preseason workouts and what not. 6 is alot, but if 6 ppl have grown balls and stepped up....more power to um.....
