Butch is a great BSer to kids. He came across as a good coach because of his wonderful marketing skills. He is very Bruce Pearl like in this regard.

I get it because sometimes I feel like I got my job because I can make myself look better than I actually am. I know most of us can relate to that.

Butch can't fool us anymore though, nor can he fool the top recruits. He thought he was having some success, so he chose to bash the media. He is now losing media support because he isn't winning, so now his reputation is plummeting.

Butch is not recruiting 4 and 5 star talent like top schools. He is also not coaching up the players we have.

Recipe for disaster.

Tennessee doesn't have the luxury of great highschool talent like other states, so we have to spend money on a top quality name coach. I mean we HAVE to go big money to attract players from other states.

Maybe he has fooled top recruits in the past, but "top" guys and their advisers won't be fooled after this year. These folks are not stupid. The tract record over the last year or two will show them the shortfalls in game coaching, game planning, and most importantly no player development. I look for a falloff in getting the good high school players in the future with this staff.

You're acting like he's a liar and a bad guy and that's just not true. Good coach? NO, but let's not get carried away with who he actually is just because you're a disappointed fan.

He isn't a bad guy. He coaches great morals to his players. He just isn't as good as he makes everyone think he is.

He's not doing anything every other coach in America with a family to feed does. Not thread worthy.

Jennings is the perfect example of a player that has been developed by this staff.

Coaching is a two way street. A player has to be willing to be coached and learn. Sometimes those that are heralded out of high school already believe they know what to do.

Maybe UT needs to change the profile they use to evaluate the recruits and stop chasing the same stars that everyone else chases.
