Not surprised.

Funny to think how many around here ran with the rumor like it was sent from God and accosted everyone else who questioned whether this would happen.

With this coming weekend being a big recruiting weekend, "chilling out" is hard to do. We are down 3 coaches, most on defense. Dooley needs to get this done this week. I am not against Lance THompson being promoted. He knows the players better than a new coach coming in and fell he would do a great job. Replace him with Marion Hobby and bring in Dale Jones. Let's get some coaches in here that bleed orange and have skin in the game so they won't leave as soon as another school comes calling.

That's a joke. Shannon may not have interest in us, but to claim we have no interest in him is a complete joke. And if he doesn't have interest in us then why not? Not enough money? Cant be the case. Only reason I dont see us not being able to make a deal with Shannon is if it involves contract issues, money is not and will not be an issue in the hiring of our new DC.

WTH? What the heck was all the smoke and fire about the last week? if this is true there are gonna be a lot of dissapointed fans when they make the hire of someone not as high profile.

Another reason: a guy like Shannon doesn't won't to work for someone less accomplished than he is.

I think a few people change their Avatar to Shannnon. Some people are like the people that join "Heaven" group that had all those new tennis shoes. Every new recruit, every new coach, anything new is going to make a huge difference. Sorry no one person will make that much of as difference they have to become a tough hard nose team. Look at Kansas State, they got beat by Arkansas, but not destroyed like we did. The talent difference...oops we have better talent. The team has got to get some consistent heart. That is my problem Dooley fans, lets be competitive. No Vandy the Vandy win did not make me happy. Call me old school, but I think a team #9 all time in wins should have a little more pride. "Heaven" Forbid 8-4 pride. Next year 8-4 is too simple by the way.

People act like this is the first time Volnation has gone completely insane about a bunch of BS rumors. This fanbase should know better by now, it happens every time.

Rumor: Brian Kelly, Jon Gruden, Lovie Smith.

What actually happened: Derek Dooley.

For the money we're offering he would, not to mention Shannon has HC experience. Although he wasn't the best HC, that experience would put him in consideration for Dooley's replacement if he was to be fired after next year. That is if our defense is among the top of the nation.
