They’re starting a true SO QB who’s actually taken care of the ball very well given his inexperience. Given Yurcich’s track record perhaps Franklin jumped the gun a little soon.

“In his career as an FBS offensive coordinator, Yurcich's offenses have averaged 6.49 yards per play, which ranks first among OC's since 2013 and 14.03 yards per completion, which is first among Power Five OC's in that timeframe.”

This year is an anomaly to what he’s done for 10 years.

Franklin's buyout will still be around $50M next year. He's under contract until 2031.
