In a surprising nod to a former Vols FB head coach, it will be named "The Bridge to Now here", or just "Opportunity".
Wait - will the bridge be built with brick? You know, brick by brick??????

Multiple ferries that run all game day. Effective next season. Problem solved.
Autonomous water taxis were proposed a couple years ago but didn't catch on.

World’s first self-driving taxi stalls out in Knoxville

More than a year ago, a company said it was launching an exciting new form of transportation in Knoxville: the first solar-powered, self-driving water taxi that would ferry riders across the Tennessee River between the south waterfront and Vol Landing. While the Greycraft water taxi from artificial intelligence startup Buffalo Automation is here in town and ready to transport riders, the ferry’s use has been stalled. “What seems to be a challenge that we’re working on is trying to find a commercial entity or a nonprofit or anybody who would be responsible for the boat: Own it. Operate it,” Buffalo Automation CEO Thiru Vikram told Knox News.

A girl that I knew from the Lap drove her Nova on the train bridge from Vestel to the campus side of the river. An event that shows with enough alcohol,a Tennessee fan can do almost anythingl(whew) .

Knowing the way state institutions work, they’ll likely have a bidding phase and award the project to the lowest bidder.
Yep, and they will screw up the SOW so the original bidder wise that to submit a boatload of change orders that will up the cost and delay the schedule…like any TDOT project.

Same. We used to walk across it at night and it was always weird because you had to step on the dark spaces.

I suffer from situational (cowardly) vertigo and can not fathom that feat. I used to park in the old Baptist Hospital parking lot on the south side of Henley bridge and use that safer route.

Very cool. Did the AD sign the fans up to help pay for it? Any additional fees on tickets? Maybe interest rates on stadium beer or Petros?

I used to walk across the old railroad bridge. This looks to be a bit safer.
I did that one late night... early morning with a friend from the rowing team when I was in school. We got about halfway across and heard a train whistle that we would have sworn was headed our way. I never ran so fast in my life, all the while looking for a place to hunker down should it be coming at us. The train was somewhere else fortunately, but we did do a Supertramp and took the long way home.

People with Pontoons offering boat rides from there versus walking. Could be a big business! Party in the green space on the other side of river then pay a little for boat ride across the River.😆
