their ignorance is astounding.
"Pearl would have crawled to UK for any amount of money if he had been offered. He's not UK's type---he's too obnoxious."

The only thing Kentucky has over Tennessee right now is the tradition. We have a fantastic arena, fans who are showing up in droves, and I'm sure we can afford whatever Bruce is going to want in terms of a salary soon. They are delusional if they think Bruce wants to come to Kentucky, or that if they wanted him they could get him. These are just the cries of people who see a sleeping giant program on the rise while their traditional powerhouse is on the decline. I'm sure their moaning will cease once they start to win again.

this is very much the same as people thinking our assistant coaches are gods, we have as many delusional fans as they do, we just let them slide (for the most part) because they are OUR fans.

Men's basketball was the only thing they were getting national attention for, and now that the attention is on how horrible they are they are just lashing out. It reminds me a little bit of our reactions to the 5-6 season, only we weren't running around talking about how we could hire a rivals coach no problem.

unoriginal doesn't mean unapplicable

Right, but going straight to the fact that the guy is overweight? Who here hasn't heard a million Phil jokes from opposing fans? I haven't been phased by a Phil joke since 1993. In fact, even I laugh at the photoshopped pictures of him

That is sort of the ironic thing about the other SEC schools though. Anything they say about our state more or less applies to their state.

Southerners shouldn't make incest jokes about other southern states. I'm not saying Tennessee has a lot of incest, but the same stereotypes exist.
is that like saying Illini shouldn't call Ohio a frickin' cesspool?

There's not one Phil joke that makes me remotely laugh, and I'm not the biggest fan of him.. However, this will always make me laugh

Exactly. It's like the Japanese kid I know who said that Chinese people always look like they have their eyes closed.

very good call. the phat jokes just aren't funny but that video is a classic.

either way, the webbed finger, banjo playing jokes are almost always funny (even if it's the pot calling the kettle black. on that kind of slippery slope, it's all about who says it first.)

All of those comments are ALWAYS based in ignorance...period...no matter where you're from. I find that they are usually made by people that have rarely to never been more than 100 miles from their home. The funny thing is that Tennesseeans are USUALLY more traveled and world savy than most regions. This is coming from a guy that is on a plane every week so maybe I'm biased, but southerners, in general, seem to have a wider world view.

I haven't quite seen it that way.

If you've ever been to Michigan, outside of Detroit, you'll learn that there are rednecks and backwoods everywhere.. Even North of the Mason Dixon..

True, and I talk to people all oveer the country every day as part of my job, and I always relax a little bit when I talk to someone from the south... as a whole, they're much nicer than say someone from NY or Cal. Of course, there's always the exception, but that's usually the case.

My wife would probably agree with you here....she's at work at the Sheraton Nashville right now overseeing the check-in of 396 rooms.....85% Kentucky fans. She just called and said "I'm never speaking to anyone from Kentucky again." That's good being as my ex-wife is from Cynthiana, KY, lol.

UK is stuck with Gillispie, who's in over his head at this level, and would love to have Bruce Pearl, the best coach in the SEC!!! Sorry UK---you're stuck with an overrated coach, while UT will make the final 4. Get used to it.

Man they're everywhere! Check out the docks in Greece, half of the UK, about all of Australia..... Right down the road in Prunedale, CA are some of the worst I have ever seen. One thing I learned is that rednecks or hillbillies aren't unique to the South.

The day that what is said on a Kentucky message board has any bearing whatsoever on the way I live my life or look at sporting issues, I will destroy my computer with an axe...
