"I haven't gotten a chance to call Coach Martin yet, but Coach Pearl called me the day after I got the job. We had a nice conversation for thirty minutes or so. He told me Tennessee is the best place in the nation to coach. That confirms what I've seen here so far. We talked about being active in the community, reaching out to the fan base, student involvement, and just how to engage the fanbase. He did a great job at all those things here obviously and those are things I've done at other stops. I really appreciated him taking the time to call me and like he said we're both Vols For Life now. That's something we'll always share. I know the fanbase loved him and that's great because we're able to sell what he did and what Coach Martin did to prospective student athletes. He will be a great resource moving forward."

I know we're supposed to hate the guy now that he's at Auburn, but the dude is nothing but classy in terms of talking about Tennessee. I hope he does very well there.

The man has been nothing but good to UT and shows a lot of class at every venue. He knows he messed up and I believe he still wants to be here but it's just not possible. I will always have a fond memory of CBP.

Hahaha how in the hell is Bruce getting away with saying this kind of stuff at Auburn, this isn't the first time he's said this kind of thing either, it'd be like me telling my girlfriend "Oh yeah that hot chick at work, I would definetly leave you for her, but she won't take me so I guess I'm stuck with you" I mean I'd be outraged if I were a Tigerfan, but as a vol fan, I absolutely love it :)

Talking good things about a former employer is a classy way to handle things, especially since he has a new gig in the same conference where he will still be communicating with many of the same people. Bruce truly loves east TN and UT. Zo didn't.

I have no ill will toward Zo at all. I am thankful he moved on to a job he really wants instead of one that he took for the money and to boost his career. Which is the truth. UT was not a destination stop. It showed and proved out in the end.

That they were lucky to be able to pick him up in the circumstances they got him and just before CCM left us. :yess:

I think Pearl accepting the job under those circumstances is indication that he wasn't going to return in any case. Probably due to Cheek.

Yes, saying TN is a great place to coach would have been classy. Saying TN is "the best" place to coach is pretty disrespectful to his current team.

And I love it.

The only reason BP took the Auburn job was that once Tennessee made the NCAA tournament his chances were slim. He wanted to coach and took the job knowing the Tennessee job would never come open. He had no idea Martin would resign.

Can you imagine our reaction if Tindall reached out to the new USM coach and told him that USM was the best place in the world to coach--iconic meltdown on VN.

RIGHT NOW, after hearing everything and after all that's happened, and if by some weird reason it could happen, would you trade DT for BP? At first I would have said yes but now I'm not so sure.

Thats possible but my guess is that Hart probably told Pearl's agent that his hands were tied and that higher-ups in the university weren't going to allow Pearl to return.
