Post-game UAM: link is on the wbir tab on the VN home page.

Pearl sounded very dissapointed that we didn't get EW. This class really has turned out to be a disaster with the exception of Renaldo. We lose possibly all 3 of our starting guards this year (defidently 2 of them) and we haven't signed a man to play the 2 yet. If Ramar leaves, our 1 and 2 spots are in deep deep trouble next year unless we sign a freakishly underrated player. It's a shame Memphis is able to sign such talent, and we are not, given our fan support, facilities, and university.

Note: when Pearl talks about all of the recruits' preconcieved agendas and views, is it possible that this is because of the Illinois incident? Perhaps the coaches and agents (most top high school players have agents) are still blackballing him.

I wouldn't worry too much. If this year is anything close to what is expected, Pearl will recruit some solid players.

I'm not worried about the two. Like hat says, we will have Tabb and Tatum(possibly Prince, though I wouldn't put any eggs in that basket yet). My concern is the point. If Ramar does leave, we are absent at the point and I don't know if we can pull another rabbit out of the hat like we did last year. Even then, we had to wait half the season to start seeing good production from Ramar.

what worries me is that this class is the first crack in the momentum Pearl has built. Im a pessimist by nature (in case you guys didnt know that) so when we have a class without a major commit like this it worries me.

why are you worried that Ramar is leaving? He hasn't done anything to warrant an early exit, and he would have to have a stellar season for that to happen.

Without a major recruit? They are both 4 stars. With only two players, it is still the #23 class in the country right now on rivals. If Ramar does not leave, which I do not think he will, then this class will fit in very well. We will land a big time PG and SG in this next class (or maybe even in the spring, though that is less likely).

Tabb and Tatum can both play the 2.

Tatum might start at the 3. I think Prince could be a big factor at 1-3 next year. But in effect we'll have 4 guards playing 3 spots unless we start 3 forwards, depending on how Renaldo develops.

Woolridge will be big time. He shoots the three, runs, and dunks. He's a perfect fit for Pearl.

Pearl is alot smaller than I thought he would be. After the Arky game my wife and I were walking down to catch the train to our car and looked up and there he was standing out in front of TBA....Had a young good looking blonde headed girl with him. Nice and polite guy, post a picture later this evening. Just a little guy, hyper, but little.

I think doing well this year in basketball, and proving that we can compete with the "big dawgs" of basketball will only help with our basketball recruiting. Regardless of recent sucess, its hard to compete with a recruit when powerhouse basketball schools such as UNC, Duke, Indiana, are involved...

It will be an evolution, I'm sure. But, I do worry about what the "word on the street" is and if that will affect his ability to recruit in some areas. I'm sure each coach has areas where it is difficult to recruit, but if he is still blackballed in a lot of circles - he could have more difficult areas than most other coaches. Regardless, the man can coach and he loves his players.

Wikipedia should have something on it - reference to Pearl taping a convo with a recruit when he was an assistant at Iowa, and turning in the tape to inform on possible improper actions by Illinois. The coaching cmty by and large felt this was improper (to say the least), and Pearl has been dealing with this since then.

The dude looks like he has a barrel for a chest...are you saying little or short?
he's short, wearing loose clothes khakis and a vols jacket, skinny legs....Super polite man though, shook mine and my wife's hand and was very grateful when we wished him luck on the season....The blonde with him was fire engine hot!
