Pearl is officially past the god-like persona that he has had the last three years where he could do no wrong. Wrong or right he was actually getting criticized alot on the radio today which has not happened up to this point very much. He has recieved some but not alot like get got today. I'm not saying this is good or bad just saying its something I observed

Bruce has already won my heart. I'm going to trust his judgment going into every game. But when all is said and done I'm not one who believes that Bruce "can do no wrong".

I think today, he might agree with the radio. This tournament was not his most impressive effort. The December-February stretch was probably the most impressive basketball I've seen in his three years however.

people just need to realize where our program was 3-4 years ago.

I think they do. But Bruce has raised the expectations bar for himself. I don't think anyone is really disappointed in Bruce personally but moreso in the outcome of this season with such high expectations.

Well UT and Pearl need to look towards Gainesville and realize that there needs to be a limit on the raise until he can win more than just one weekend in the NCAA's and a day in Atlanta.

Cannot argue with that, specially since it included wrapping up the SEC title. It is just that the rest of the basketball world judges the season on what happens in the NCAA tourney. We never did overcome poor FT shooting and ball security, then we stopped playing as good as a team.

No shame in losing to a very good Louisville team. Bruce has been in Knoxville three years. He was not left with a bunch of future pros like Roy was an NC, he was left with projects, and he turned them into a hell of a team.

Plus he landed guys like Chism, Crews(5 star), Ramar(5 star) and just got Woolridge. Things will only go up from here IMO. Especially with the signing of Hopson, that would be huge for the UT program.

There were some callers on the Sports Animal talking to Jimmy Hyams saying Pearl can't win the big game. Hyams asked if Memphis wasn't a big game, or UF the last 3 years, or @ Xavier, etc...

All we need to do is look back to Buzz-ball. We didn't even make the NIT, now we have been to back to back Sweet 16's, won 30 games for the first time ever, won the SEC outright for the first time in 41 years, got our first #1 ranking, etc...

Some of these so-called fans are the reason why some in the animal kingdom eat their young.

Well, it's a big year for Pearl indeed. There are no more of Buzz's players- it's all Bruce from here on out, and for that I am glad.

The big wins earlier this year really looked great compared to our effort in the tournament. I mean, absolutely no one save Texas (over UCLA and KU) and Stanford (UCLA) have more impressive wins. Memphis, Xavier, West Virginia, and Western Kentucky couldn't have done more to underscore the great season the Vols had.

I think criticism of Pearl is a good thing for UT right now...it shows how far we have come in three years to criticize a coach who went 31-5 SEC champs #2 seed sweet 16...i've always believed criticism is good for any coach, even if he doesn't deserve it.

Pearl isn't beyond all criticism, but I won't be casting any stones at this point.

We have a lot of Tennessee football fans supporting the basketball team. The only problem is a lot of them, as soon as we put together a few really good years in basketball, want to hold the basketball program to the same standard as the football program. That's just ludicrous -- it's not EVEN the same situation.

Fans might have good reason to criticize Fulmer, who has presided over a program with a long-standing tradition of success for many years, if (in their opinion) the program seems to be sliding. But after the 3 seasons Pearl has put together since he got here, there is no reason he should get much criticism at all. He has made Tennessee basketball relevant again -- for my money, it's the best show in town! There's no way I'm complaining about what I've seen so far -- it's almost all been great!

Let's save our criticism for a time when the program is headed in the wrong direction.

Agreed.

Well let's hope he's not thinking about they are saying him on Indiana's radio stations.......

Pearl has built a team, but I'm not convinced that he's a final four coach until he gets a final four. And I won't be until I see a much more polished team than we had this year.

He put out a team of ballaz this year. It was fun and entertaining, and accomplished several new feats. Now let's see him throw out a team of focused, polished studs, and take the next step.

How were we supposed to be a "polished" unit without a true point guard? Furthermore, did you honestly expect J.P. Prince or Ramar to handle Louisville's pressure effectively? After skimming through various threads after Thursday night's result, some of our "fans" have a long way to go on the basketball front.

I love Pearl, just wish he could have had the team a lil more pumped up other night. I was seeing a lack of motivation/heart
