They're happy now because they have a guy they believe will make them good again. They ran a guy out of town because KY fans were too accustomed to success, and decided Tubby wasn't getting it done anymore. Now they're coming off one of their worst years since the post Eddie Sutton days.

I'm comparing you people hating on Pearl to the people who were tearing down Tubby for years. It wasn't about Pearl, it was about certain Vols fans. Try to keep up.

Don't be absurd. Tubby is a defensive coach and won a title at KY shortly after arriving.

In his first year. In the nine years following he faced a ridiculous amount of pressure at a school where that's at least to be expected. You guys are Tennessee basketball faced with a coach who has already taken you to unprecedented success. At least Kentucky had a formidable tradition to live up to. You guys don't.

Basically, what I'm getting at, is quit your bitching.

ANd Tubby's coaching philosophy has nothing to do with my point.

There's apparently an echo in here regarding the point not being about Pearl. And don't come in here telling us what to bitch about and what not to bitch about. The people you're responding to aren't hating on Pearl. You can always leave if you don't like our discussions.

Okay, that's cool have fun trying to chase out a guy who actually puts your basketball program on the map.

Because I'll tell you what, I have a hard time believing a big time coach is even gonna consider a school where they chase out a guy who has numbers like Pearl. This anti-Pearl stuff is absolutely unbelievable, and honestly utterly shocking. I came to see what yall were saying about Mel, but my jaw dropped when I saw this stuff.

Nobody on this board is advocating that Pearl be fired. What you're reading is a backlash by some of the posters on this board against the large contingent of fans (and media, and Pearl himself) who seem to think that he should be beyond criticism.

Apparently your small mind can't comprehend that legit criticism =/= "chasing out a guy".

I'd also wager that we've just seek the worst 4 year run, from a winning % standpoint, since Rupp started coaching at UK.

Yes....he's also 3-5 against them, and lost 3 in a row.

Of course the next reply will be "I don't care if we beat them as long as we finish ahead of him".

I agree. Getting swept by them and 1-3 in the last four doesn't feel like much of an accomplishment.

This is what disturbs me the most nobody is chasing Pearl anywhere! But it will surely be used by the likes of 32 and the others who believe he is beyond criticism as a reason that if Bruce leaves for a job he just might have been jockeying for in the first place! So everyone please be nice to Coach Pearl!

The first 3 seasons I have no problem with since we at least split with them, but this last season was pretty embarrassing and the chances of repeating that situation are very slim.

Plus getting destroyed by Kentucky twice should always upset a Vol fan, especially when they are getting beat by pretty much everyone else.
