$8.2 mil over 5 years.

Money well spent.

What's the total bill for CJP&S?

Should have started a thread about it.

It was and is dangerous for her. I think she had deferred to him after the hire because it was known that was how business on the Hill was conducted. If she doesn’t hire Fulmer, it still would be. Wasn’t a fan of hers before...am now.

You’re free to be a fan of her all you want, I certainly not trying and talk you out of it, just telling you why I’m not....and the Currie contract which she signed off on is yet another reason I’m not find her.

I wasn’t a fan of hers when she was hired, don’t like her condescending persona, didn’t like her decision-making and judgment, don’t like that she was obviously another hire signed off on by the Haslams. Heck, even the little things like the Jumbotron deal, she wasn’t forthcoming about that, told everybody to “hold on, the crane’s been ordered”....and we obviously saw that a crane wasn’t even needed nor was one used there.

I think she’s a fraud and she did the only thing she could do to secure her job after the Currie fiasco, which is hire the man she previously turned her nose up to.....and would’ve done it again in a heartbeat had he not been her lifeline to keeping her very well-compensated position. Jmo.

Everybody is free to make their decisions about her accordingly. You’ve made yours Butchna, I’ve made mine, it’s all good.

I agree...that I have the EXACT OPPOSITE take on all your points. :hi:

Why is everyone so worried about what Tennessee owes previous coaches?

Tennessee isn't in trouble financially! Why does it matter! The money is there, why worry about such minor details?

Again you have some folks on VN that have difficulty with the amounts of money programs spend in the 21st century. It's beyond their grasp, they also cannot figure out why we aren't all paying $0.30 for a gallon of gas as an example. You see this a lot when some are fixated over the amount coach's at the SEC level require. They know BillyBob at the county rec center has coached the pee wee team to championships, a couple of undefeated seasons, and hell he'd do it for $35k and a case of Goo Goo candybars. It's a mentality somewhat unique to Tennessee is my experience but it's what makes us who we are, that and Benton County sorghum molasses.

So people that ask question about wasted money by a university they support are stupid redneck that cant grasp that we dont live in the 60s and pay 30 cents for gas? Brilliant point of view.

Those that think that the UT AD is a bottomless pit are the same boneheads that water UT's money trees for them and want to pay Gruden $10mm a year. We don't roll in dough as many want to think.

You will live to regret that. She’s a dingbat and will screw up everything she touches. Hopefully she’ll leave athletic Dept alone.

I’ll live until my body gives out. Regrets over personal opinions ain’t part of my structure. And I disagree with you. :) Goodhearted lady who got tough when it was needed. We’re in good hands with her and Fulmer.

I wasn't concerned about the buyouts before, but ow due to this thread I am.

There HAS to be a reason to be concerned somewhere with this many responses to a thread.

You should be concerned about the competency of our administration when they negotiate an ADs contract that pays him $20,000 more per month when if he’s fired and no longer doing the job than it did when he was gainfully employed and performing his duties for the university.

Have to be encouraged when a leader refuses to be a slave to the dollar (as past administrations would), and identifies a solution that smacks against the ingrained power that be and bravely hires him. Tough inspirational lil lady!

Agreed. Beautifully handled by our incompetent Chancellor Beverly Davenport. . . Completely incompetent contract negotiation.

That’s a very easy comment to make in hindsight.

I’m not suggesting that she doesn’t have some culpability in the contract, but you can rest assured that every attorney, board member and top leader in the organization was well aware of the terms. They all share responsibility.

Obviously, they didn’t expect to fire the guy, especially this early in the term. And, why would they? How often do you see ADs get canned like that after eight months on the job? Almost all of time, ADs are just not given an extension, the contract expires and they move on.

Currie may have insisted on that provision as terms of employment. It’s not uncommon to give someone a lucrative provision if you believe the likelihood of exercising it is very, very low, which is not an absurdly unreasonable belief in this context. The thing is, I think it made Currie go rogue, thinking he was “fire proof.”

I agree it looks bad, but it doesn’t represent incompetence based on my experience.
