Texas gave every SEC team the blueprint we will be seeing going forward…pressure, pressure, pressure. I’m still shocked we didn’t make any adjustments to try to slow TX down, but that’s in the rear view mirror now. We better come up with game plans that are going to negate the pressure, or it is going to be a very ugly season.
Uh, well yeah. If they can trot out a low level NFL front seven, then they can roll w that blueprint. This was not just pressure. It was NON blitz pressure, everyone staying in their rushing lanes, and 1 or 2 spys available on a lightning fast QB, with studs playing m2m coverage on the back end. In short, if anyone has this setup, then yes. But, if they wanna rush 6 or 7 to do it then plan to be slashed with the run and FBs feet.

It's kinda like saying that the Patriots blueprint was out there for a decade, so everyone's gonna copy it. Well, if they had a Tom Brady, a stacked OL, and an elite D, then yeah ... here comes the Falcons. 😉

TX has a great DL and our OL didn't perform well. BUT, with average SEC QB play, the Vols win that game. IMO, Brandon was focused too much on not throwing a pick vs. making plays that can win the game. He too often vacated the pocket when he shouldn't have, didn't make good reads and should have gotten rid of the ball several times vs. taking a sack. The game was just too fast for him in this one. He'll learn from it and get better, but his performance was abysmal.
So you would rather FB throw interceptions? He's a freshman, and he will learn. Texas had the perfect game plan.

Texas and Sark have struggled to score since Quinn Ewers began struggling with injuries.. Happy for Knowles and the defense, but Texas’s offense is not a good benchmark.
Texas is definitely not a well oiled machine. Crazy to think about it, but we will probably get all the way to Alabama in week 7 before we truly know what we’ve got on both sides of the ball.

We are going to lose a lot more games this year if we don’t fix the glaring and obvious problems we have. These are problems our coaches must fix, but sticking our heads in the sand pretending other SEC teams aren’t anywhere near as good as TX is just foolish.
I don't see people sticking their heads in the sand. There is a lot of parity in this league.

JA would have won that game...by seeing the field and experience. He would have hit those passes at a pretty good clip.

You know... this brings up a question. I wonder if any current DL could play OL? We used to move DL to OL quite often back in the day.
Probably not. When was back in the day because the D-Lineman have gotten lankier at EDGE and for tennessee specifically smaller at DT, and the O-Lineman have gotten much bigger. I was watching Bob Hope announcing the 1986 All America team and the guard was 6’3 280. Not seeing that anymore

Yeah. Fulmer did it often. Different times, I know.

Oh that Wazzu game!

Won it 10-9!

Only TD was a reverse to Nilo Silvan.

PM was 7-14 for 79 yards with no picks.

HUGE that FB had no turnovers given the beating he was taking. I’m a fan.
Honestly, imagine the legend of this kid already, just by taking the final play. It was a thing of beauty, what he managed just to get the ball off. Like our past two 5* QBs, he did NOT run out of bounds on that play. He didn't throw it to the open man short. Under a barrage of pressure and after 10 sack son the day, in the chaos of the clock running out and waiting on a WR to get in position to snap it, he made the only right choice. And Brahme was ready and going to catch it.

If #4 isn't able to barely tip it away, just think what this week and the fanbase would be doing. 🎉 Think @ the sports media narrative. Our AP ranking. The endless replays. The interviews. The Heisman forecasts. The fanbase 99% forgetting the OL, the play calling, the QBs other fails. The server disruption for Freak. The predictions of going undefeated and winning it all. The ranting and raving @ the legality of the inside kick. And most of all the immesurable hype of a freshman who makes what is easily one of the top 5 plays in Vol football 🏈 history in his 4th game at 18yo!

Thanks #4. 😏

I attended a coaching clinic moons ago and one of the speakers was Howard Schnellenberger. He said he never recruited offensive lineman. He recruited defensive lineman only and the ones that didn't pass the defensive line test made offensive lineman out of them.... That always stuck in my mind.

No, I would rather he give us a chance to win the game, and he didn't do that because he was way too focused on not turning the ball over. If it had been a second year QB would you not be more critical of his performance? He can't play like that all season and expect to win 9 or more games. Just because it was his first SEC game is no reason not to point out the obvious.

I don’t think there is any question he missed some reads but a lot of times that receiver came open about the time he he had 40 or 1 all up in his business.
There were several times he was making the read and left the right read too soon. He had at least 2 TD throws available and just didn't wait a split second longer to make the throw before he moved to the next read. I love that he's going thru his progressions, but he just wasn't patient enough.

I posted this earlier:

Other than 3 chunk plays, Texas had the same issues. Ten fewer rushing yards than Tenn, and without the 3 chunks, fewer passing yards. Gave up six sacks. Texas lost the turnover game and the special teams game.
THIS ALL FREAKIN' DAY!

you'll be sick when you watch the film guy review. Brandon had clean pocket and several td shots he missed. He has to anticipate better and pull the trigger.
And you also heard why he probably missed those receivers because he was already "sped" up in his processing of play. Due to the lack of a pocket. Like he said 10 sacks would have been the same result for any QB.

Under that pressure? The Film But said he thought that JA would have had the same issues. 10 sacks and constant pressure in your face on top of being a freshman.

Fulmer did it a ton

Heupel was stupid to let Faizon continue to struggle the whole game. It was obvious by the end of 3rd quarter he had a brain cramp and wasn't seeing the field. Did he think by the 5th, 6th, 7th sack it was going to get any better?

Unfortunately, George would have been worse, because holding the ball too long is one reason he lost the job in the first place.

Rusty should have started the 4th Q for a couple of series, as he's had the most playing experience. I think Heupel is going to realize we don't really have a starting-QB in Faizon/George (yet), and will turn the job over to Rusty after mid-season after a few more losses.

nope...pff had 4 on the line i could go 5 but he has to get rid of the ball.he will in time but right now its moving to fast for him.

Washington St had one of the best defenses in the country that year

Those open TDs that were missed makes me think our season will still be pretty dang good. At this point Faizon seems willing to learn and work at getting better.

With those guys being open against one a top 10 defense, they will be open against more of our opponents.
next few games we should see it or we in for a long season.i do like him alot.

No.

“Texas has some War Daddies.”

This was the tale of the game going in and I could see it happening from GG.

Our D Line played great.

Their D Line was utterly unconscious.

FB will be fine.

tx has the best line in college f.b. in my opinion.why dont we.they out spent us by 15m
