From where he was standing on the field, there were dudes open.

This was the most sacks between two teams in the FBS game since 1995. Do you think Texas is happy with their offensive line?!

Ultimately it comes down to Faizon being young.
The windows were closing faster than he anticipated. He will learn from it. I am glad that he wasn't forcing passes. Anticipation can be fixed.

Here we are year 6, and we're playing musical chairs. Our 6 have Sham Umarov and Sam Pendleton. Jesse Perry is a G. So is Sam. What the hell are we doing?

Its one thing to give up a few sacks, that's gonna happen. I'm even willing to give Texas credit for stopping the run. But, penalties, missed blocks, sacks against Kennesaw/FBS, and times with no push. Year after year. How much about results is scheme and RB? What could we do with real porthole additions? Or developed talent?

Umarov, Pendleton, Perry. Are those guys gonna get us to next level? Would they play at Georgia, or Florida? Speaking of Florida...they're gonna be in top 10. Kentucky, looks good under a 1st yeat coach.

We should have been in the porthole, getting dudes last year The goodwill is over. The rushing results are likely scheme and running back. It isnt NIL because we are one of the too programs in the Country, We know it isnt Heup, cause he's the offensive guy.

What is it then? Halzle? Ellarbee?

I think there's your answer.

I posted this earlier:

Other than 3 chunk plays, Texas had the same issues. Ten fewer rushing yards than Tenn, and without the 3 chunks, fewer passing yards. Gave up six sacks. Texas lost the turnover game and the special teams game.

During the 1st 3 games one could see the tendency of him not seeing the coverage and pulling the trigger on timing routes. Against earlier lesser opponents it wasn't a critical factor. As true freshman there probably are very few (if any) that come into the SEC as QB's that have the mental aspect of the game mastered at a highly competent level. Some have all the skills physically but never acquire the mental skills to process coverages fast enough and let the ball rip. I don't blame the kid, hopefully with film study and time in the arena, Faizon can get there.

One problem is Williams isn't ready to play. If Moe is out for a period of time I wonder if maybe they put Moore at center and move Pendleton to guard. He isn't cutting it at center. Haslam not in good enough shape to play a full game at tempo. They have 2 winnable games to get it figured out before Bama comes to town.

It comes down to Heupel mismanaging the QB and OL (and I give him full credit for the defensive upgrade this offseason, early results are promising, although some fans said if we fire Banks - who ya gonna get???).

So, in your mind, it's ultimately Faizon's fault when our O-line was dominated at the LOS and Desean rushes for a miserable 34 yds & Morris only gets a measley 33 yds. If you expected Faizon to play like Hendon Hooker in that game then that's on you (and I'm not sure we could've won with HH either given the O-line)

I've cooled off a bit. This was a collective loss on coaches w/ strategy, not having creativity in the run game, and abandoning or rolling Faizon out of pocket to give him more time/options...it was on the OL with horrible execution against an NFL stacked front 7, and poor play by QB... Except for maybe Bama, I don't think we'll see another front 7 close to TX. We have plenty of work to do, but just need to get back on track. At this point, we played the #1 team to 3 points, where TaM/OK are staring down the barrel of probable losing seasons... If we keep playing D and offense marginally comes around, we'll be better than alot of teams in SEC 9 game gauntlet is going to yield losses most every SEC team doesn't like...except for maybe UGA, TX, Bama.

Both teams defenses played to stop the run and make the QB beat you. Are freshman got a little outplayed by a senior.
That’s… pretty much it. I was seeing the same thing from my seats at the GT game. He processes, but not as fast as you want him to yet.

5 sacks says the opposing pass rush got the best of you. 10 sacks says the ball isn’t coming out on time. Unfortunately, Brandon just had his “Welcome to the SEC” moment. The good news is that was truly the best D-line he’ll see.

…and if youre surprised by this, it’s your fault.

Do you not see the obvious comparison? Look at what Garner is getting from his unit. He's even got a true freshman Finch contributing and playing well. Compare that to what Elarbee has produced for the cause.

Nothing is wrong with the QB position. FB is a freshman, and you're going to have growing pains as a freshman. It comes with the territory. If you plant a field of crops, they won't be ready by Friday. JH is making a longterm investment in FB because he believes the reward is greater than the risk.

DL is a lot easier than OL. I know you're not trying to compare the 2.

any competency in the line in recognizing a stunt or over loaded side and we're tied, at worst going into OT.

I'm less concerned about Texas, and more concerned about the rotating three games in. haslam being out of shape. penalties. and not dominating with an upper class Owings line against lesser opponents.

Peyton flat out stunk in his first fee games.

He may be right, but when they showed TV replays from behind Brandon most of the time our guys were running verticals and were not open. Once or twice there were opportunities but the throw had better been on the money. Of course, not every pass play (including sacks) was replayed from that angle so I can’t say on those.

you'll be sick when you watch the film guy review. Brandon had clean pocket and several td shots he missed. He has to anticipate better and pull the trigger.

Where does one find the film review guy? Are you talking Guarantano’s film review?

No.

“Texas has some War Daddies.”

This was the tale of the game going in and I could see it happening from GG.

Our D Line played great.

Their D Line was utterly unconscious.

FB will be fine.

Texas gave every SEC team the blueprint we will be seeing going forward…pressure, pressure, pressure. I’m still shocked we didn’t make any adjustments to try to slow TX down, but that’s in the rear view mirror now. We better come up with game plans that are going to negate the pressure, or it is going to be a very ugly season.

If you can watch a SkyCast view it's helpful at knowing what the QB could see. I was amused at some of the passes Herbstreit tried to say were open, because they usually had coverage on those from a central defender. I guess Herbstreit didn't go pro for a reason.

There were some times he had an open guy, with I think 3 obvious misses on outs where he even found the open man but flubbed the pass. There were a few where he had someone but only very early. I'm not sure if those were just not the primary reads or if he needed to identify them pre snap. A lot of the time he saw pressure, sometimes on the interior, with a 4 man rush, and Simmons could get home on a 3 man rush, and all you see from Brandon's angle is 7 or 8 pass defenders.

This happened to Manning, too, but about 4 or 5 times he made a great pass, usually with the receiver making an elite play against good coverage. The big things we're asking from Brandon is some of those. The little thing we're asking is to know when to throw it away before he gets sacked.
