I`m going through this with my dad now. It`s hard for me at 54 I can`t imagine doing it at his age.

Ah, just posted this in the bball forum in the Summitt thread. It's a pretty moving article. Not very informative. Mostly just an emotional piece.

Lost my mom-in-law to this hideous disease this past November. Eleven years. It still makes me angry and sad all at the same time. She is with the Lord and all is good with her now. I admire the nursing staffs in the facilities that help handle this. The good that came out of it is being involved with the community of folks that are going through it as we support each other. Also, it inspired our daughter to go into the nursing field and work with the elderly and those suffering with this and other diseases.

Yes, it is an emotional piece and if you haven't walked down that path you can't fully understand. But there are countless suffering from this disease in nursing homes and assisted living centers all around the country as well as in your town that may not know you or remember your name with each visit; but would still love a hug or someone to talk to or someone to feed them or someone to tour them around the facility/grounds in a wheel chair, or someone to help them play bingo, or someone to dance with them to an old song from yesteryear, or someone to sing a hymn with them, or someone to pray with them or someone who will bring their baby/young child or even pet dog to see them, or ....

It can happen to any of us.
