Pat Dooley is the long time Gainesville Sun beat writer for the Gators. He wears spurrier pajamas.

He said Monday in his pod cast that Florida might be “contractually required to play DJ Lagway” regardless of how many INTs he throws. He alluded to Lagway NIL deal. Sounds like DJ team knew they had the Gators over the barrel with Napier buyout last year & really used leverage.

If Lagway don’t start playing a lot better fast. Florida may be willing to punt on both.

Nico, as bad as he was threw 5 INTs all last year.

It's entirely plausible and there was a thread yesterday on Gators 247 posing the possibility. It was quickly shot down by a mod as you would expect but Gator fans have noted the strange substitution patterns where the backups get rotated into the game fairly quickly and sometimes in key situations.

I really Hope Napier continues calling the plays.

This can't be true. That would be considered gross negligence in negotiating as you give one party all the leverage in the world.

But making the leap that it is: this is somewhat inline with the challenges that Florida has faced in their NIL since the beginning.

Huh? Didn't think there were contracts as it pertains to playing a sport? Any "contract" would be NIL only, no? Didn't think there was such thing as pay for play in this current setup?
