As soon as you get off at 17th coming from Nashville/Chatt. get in the left hand lane; pass all those fools who are trying to turn right. There is parking there at the bottom of the offramp; very easy access to I40.

Looking at satellite view of Google Maps, are you talking about the empty property on left before you get to 17th? Not sure if it's actually an empty lot, another view I saw there was a building there.
Either way, how much is the lot you're talking about?

Checkout this link. I usually try to park at the Children's hospital, ($15) and usually much easier to get out off there than other areas.

This is what I did for the ETSU game. Really easy to get in and out of and cheaper than most places

I’m leaving Asheville around 8 or 9. Hopefully I can get into the civic center lot that early, or somewhere closer without spending a fortune...

Coming into town from the East, your best bet is to park in town at one of the free garages. Very easy to get back out to I40 from there. Here's a link to all the free municipal garages:

With it being a night game, should be plenty of space. Spaces get scarce on earlier games because people are in town for the farmers market at Market St.

Yes, it's an empty lot. I think it's about $20.00. If they charged $40.00 it would be worth it. You do not have to sit in traffic at all after the game.
