Where is the best place to park for a game ?

I'm looking for something reasonably priced and at least somewhat convenient to leave campus heading towards Nashville after the game. Walking far is not a concern. Also, if there's any "rough" parts that one really wouldn't want to be leaving their car at, would really like to avoid those as well.

This past Saturday was my first game actually driving to the game and not as a passenger. Last weekend, someone gave me a parking pass for the Lake Avenue garage. While it was a nice lot, the police preventing you from turning left on Cumberland really frustrated me as the route I had mapped out went that direction. Added annoyance as there was traffic going the direction I wanted just we weren't being allowed to make the turn.

Guess may be smart to find a place to hang out an extra hour or so after the game and let things settle down and the flow to open back up.
I know if I start going more consistently I will become familiar and comfortable with it, just no where near that at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, if I put this in the wrong spot, I apologize.

My son and I will be coming into town for the UF game this weekend. I have the same question only going east on I-40 after game. Any tips greatly appreciated. GBO

Checkout this link. I usually try to park at the Children's hospital, ($15) and usually much easier to get out off there than other areas.

Try Locust Street Garage. $20 and about .9 of a mile walk to the stadium (through World's Fair Park). Also, you're one block away from Market Square and Gay Street (Mast General Store, sports bars, etc.). Leaving out of the garage, you may have to skip your first right turn because of what you mentioned in your post, but you can drive up to the next right turn, and it's easy to get on I 40.

I've parked at Church Street United Methodist and it was $20 last time I parked there. Need to get there about 2-3 hours before the game it fills up fast. Exit from Hill drive onto Henley and turn right to go South across the river. Let google maps route you back to back to 129 towards Alcoa. Hit the the Pellissippi Parkway to get back to I-40.
There used to be parking right across the river (on Henley street) that's super easy to get into and out of. If you don't mind a long walk to/from the stadium.
For WesTnVol going East. I have not tried going East from that Parking Lot but, I would guess maybe trying to cut across downtown going east until you find a cut over to I-40 (Maybe the James White Parkway). I think trying to turn left onto Henley after the game would be a regretful decision.

I've parked everywhere from 17th Street area to across the river near Market Square. It depends on what time I get there. This past weekend, we had someone's parking pass close to the stadium and because of the traffic flow it spit us out going away from Nashville on Neyland Drive. Our GPS took us 275 to 640 and we got to our restaurant at Turkey Creek way ahead of the crowd. A lot longer in miles but a lot shorter in time than any other time I've been lately. We didn't leave the game early either.

There are three small lots on the left side of the frontage road exiting I-40 at 17th Street. One is west of 17th and the other two are east of 17th but you have to get there early. The cost is $15-$20. It is easy to leave from these headed back to Nashville. If you know Knoxville streets, I usually take Middlebrook Pike as far west as Cedar Bluff and then south back to I-40. By that time, you are almost to the Oak Ridge exit which is right close to Calhouns on Kingston Pike at I-I40. That saves me a good bit of time. On the other hand, the hike from I-40/17th street to Neyland is a bit taxing for us older folks. Seventeenth seems to get steeper every year.

Thank you for the input so far. I'm going to save all this for the next time I go.

Free parking in state street and market garages. Walk is about a mile or take a trolley for 10 bucks round trip. You are downtown and get out to the interstate headed west is easy

I typically try to park up in the Fort, and am fairly indiscriminate in where I'm willing to leave my vehicle. However, the prices over the past two weeks have been absurdly inflated - in my opinion - and I am unsure as to why. When people are attempting to charge $40 or more for parking for the ETSU game, something is seriously off. So, while I have a parking pass for this weekend, I feel for all the people that are going to be gouged for cash when Florida comes to town.

I didn't realize those garages were free on gameday. Locust will charge you $20. I think. I like the UT credit union lot at the beginning of the strip for $20. Fun place to tailgate and convenient to the interstate. Little bit of a walk but walking with thousands of hungry Vol fans is half the fun. Wish they still parked the tank on the strip though.

It’s all about what you want pregame really. I like to go downtown and hang out at the brewery before the game when I go so those garages work for me. For tailgating those garages are terrible

I'm not really the tailgating type, so a great tailgate spot isn't necessary.

The free lots or ones with shuttles sound intriguing. Figure the free ones load up quick though.

They do fill up but let me check about the kessell garage. It may be free as well.

Tyson Park is about a 20 minute brisk walk and $10. There is a shuttle which takes about the same time. Most of the spots are on dirt or gravel unless you arrive early. It's an easy out headed west via concord street. I'm probably and idiot for telling people about this honey hole.

As soon as you get off at 17th coming from Nashville/Chatt. get in the left hand lane; pass all those fools who are trying to turn right. There is parking there at the bottom of the offramp; very easy access to I40.

I park at the civic center, $10, the $10 to ride the bus a person. I always see a lot of people walking, but we take the bus because of my wife's health issues.

We are leaving Jackson at 6 am. Is it worth it to take that newer by pass around nashville? I believe it's 640??

Yeah Saturday morning. Maybe it's not 640. My dad goes to gburg twice a year and he said it was faster. Said it comes back to i40 past nashville air port

Its 840 but we normally just go straight through nashville unless we are hitting there during rush hour. On Saturday morning it shouldn't be bad.

I’m leaving Asheville around 8 or 9. Hopefully I can get into the civic center lot that early, or somewhere closer without spending a fortune...

GBO!!!

You should be fine. Most lots don’t fill until about two hours prior. I’ve seen spots at the civic center after kickoff
