IRVING, Texas -- Bill Parcells retired from coaching Monday, leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons and ending a stellar career that featured three Super Bowl appearances and two championships.
The announcement came 15 days after the Cowboys' season ended with a heartbreaking playoff loss in Seattle. He'd been at his office nearly every day since, and there were other indications that the 65-year-old coach was returning for a fifth year in Dallas and 20th as an NFL head coach.
"I am in good health and feel lucky to have been able to coach in the NFL for an extended period of time," he said in a statement. "I leave the game and the NFL with nothing but good feelings and gratitude to all the players, coaches and other people that have assisted me in that regard."

Another team enters the coaching search. Maybe Mora signed on the line in Seattle too quickly

Nick Saban to Dallas would make my offseason. Then we could hear him say what a loyal, honest, stand up guy he is again.

I'd say you could call his tenure in Dallas disappointing. What was he, 2 games over .500?

So is this bit of news really worthy of wall to wall coverage from ESPN?
I Don't recall an all day analysis and love fest when Cowher rode off into the sunset...

Like they've said, it's just the way it is with the Cowboys. They'll milk this all week and for another week when they name a new coach.

Alls I have to say is :hmm:

I honestly think Parcells and Romo had great potential to be a winning combo. Then again, Parcells doesn't have much to show for his tenure at Dallas. Pending this coaching hire, I'm going to be officially sold on the idea that Jerry Jones want for media attention will prevent Dallas from becoming a winning franchise.

Heard a commentator on ESPN Radio today suggest that it was incredibly selfish of Parcells to announce this the Monday after the Championship games and steal the spotlight. I hadn't thought about it but it does seem like something that could have waited 24 hours.
