Hopefully we can get it into and possibly past the endzone so theres no chance of a return this weekend.

Not many kickers in college can kick it out of the back of the end zone...

thats awesome....I guess as a true freshman it would make more sense to work him in slow and get him familiar with the feel of it all before putting him into a situation where he's getting pressure.

Glad we have the Vols best leg on kickoffs. If he can get it past the 10 then he is a step up.

Hopefully he gets to kick off a lot this game.

We'll see. I think we'll consistently see 3-4 yards deeper, but I'm not too sure about the touchbacks everyone's hoping for. Remember, all the highlight films everyone's seen about him were from high school where they kick off from the 40. Kicking off from the 30 in college is a lot different.

Couple of good notes on here the last 12 hours or so... Reply
Good nuggets on the board. Palardy will start as the kickoff guy.

And Oregon is not getting in town till late evening Friday night.

His senior yr in high school his coaches had him kicking off from the 30 to prepare him for college. He can kick it in the end zone from the 30 . Thats not an issue.

Hopefully he'll get it deeper than Cunningham did...our kickoffs were horrible last week....we did have good coverage down field though

He repeatedly kicked it to the 5 yard line. There were only a few times it didn't go that deep.

I think it was only once he kicked it to the 7 and the others were much shorter. Some might have appeared deeper since their return man dropped them.

Distance isn't the only factor in a kickoff. You guys are killing me.

Per the article by James Wilhoit last week, the big issue is the ball (good read). Palardy used the preferred kickers ball (I believe Nike) versus the Wilson GST which is supposedly the worst ball out there for kickers being used. We use it because the qb's/receivers like it and we are under contract with Wilson.

Dooley said Palardy had better placement on his kickoffs. Maybe Oregon's two punt returns for TDs has something to do with it. Just speculation. And yeah, I know they were punt returns.

practicing live kickoff coverage could have been the goal

I thought it was.

Interesting Palardy to start though. Can only be CDD sees something he wants in Palardy / something he is not happy with in Cunningham.

ya, Cunningham gets good hang time to allow the good coverage. Also, they muffed a couple kicks, and I was wondering if it was something Cunningham was doing; or if UT-Martin just sucked that bad.
