Paint the rock for the 20th!

ok guys, here it is! the first big rock paint of the new recruiting class!! lets get some volunteers, some suggestions, some mockups and most of all lets get together afterwards for a beer!

DISCLAIMER:

In this thread, do not discuss any type of monetary donations to help paint the rock. if anyone wants to bring paint or brushes thats fine. Freak has been nice enough to let us have these threads as long as we keep the money out of it so lets not go there. also if anyone wants to contact me about meeting up to paint please do so at ertel8385@gmail.com

I Hurd there's a fUTure VOL crew coming to town! #117 #O&W

And then list all the recruits names... Put the commits in orange writing and the others in black paint writing.

Just a suggestion Ertel, thanks for what you do.

Also are you planning on doing this on the 19th at night or on the 20th in the morning?

heres what im thinkin

"VOL BY VOL WE RISE TO THE TOP" as the header

paint bricks under that with the 8 commits names on them

underneath all that across the bottom squeeze in all the '14 recruits names. yes it will get painted over more than likely and yes minor violation, but imma go ahead and establish my stance on this off the bat. the names always have and always will go on the rock! no question, no exceptions....

the 19th, i get off of work at 5:30 so i should be at the rock by no later than 6:30. im going to need help because when they redid the landscaping around the rock they exposed about 3 feet more of it so the thing is huge now.

I am sure you can leave a little earlier if you want. Also take off Saturday for the OW game, we discussed that day when you were hired :whistling:

No way you miss this OW game!

Thats exactly what I was thinking. "Build a wall" with the bricks of the commits w their names on them as the foundation of the wall. Have the recruits names on the bricks that will be used to complete the wall to the side.

Even better we could use names like majors and reynolds and shuler as the foundation bricks. Go back to reggie, tony robinson and neyland era players.

only problem with that is we already have so many names to put up there and i want to make them all large enough to read easily.

Figured I'd ask. I'm driving up on the 20th or I would be out there to help. I definitely hope it's still up when I get there on Saturday though.

well the more i think about it the more i think it might be a good idea to paint the day of so its still there while theyre out and about on campus that morning, maybe theyll even come by while were painting it. if i did it that morning i would want to do so early so i could still have time to tailgate lol if more people could help that morning then thats what we will do. maybe start at like 8:30 and be done by 10:30 or so.

If you did that I'd check in with my buddy who's coming with me and see what time he's planning on leaving. We have a 2 hr or so drive, so it wouldn't be a sure thing but we'd definitely try to get there to help out. I think the 20th is a better idea, but you're going to need some help so I'd plan on which day you can get the most help lol.

If y'all do it on the 20th I could try to join you as well. I may or may not have a friend with me and I might not be there right when you start but I would love to help!

Maybe put something that has to do with our National Championships and getting our next one? The brick idea is a definite if you ask me. Maybe do what Ertel said: paint bricks with the commits names in them with the base bricks being the National Championships we already have and put another brick to the side saying something like "The next one will happen with your expertise"

Build a stairway out of bricks with a crystal ball at the top. Then have commits in the bottom bricks. Have it say VOL BY VOL WE WILL RISE TO THE TOP.

Maybe throw in a JUST NEED A FEW MORE BRICKS.

Why not do something without the actual names so they won't paint over it that night? Like they did us last time. The recruits will nvr get to see it if you write names on it...

That's why we might be doing it that morning. Also I think not putting names is pointless myself.

Something simple. Orange and white brick wall. "Build Something Great". #Legends

If you must put names then put a name in each brick.

I agree if the names are there the recruits won't see it which is pointless. I like the vol by vol we will rise to the Top. Also like the bricks thing. Maybe add a question like when will you sign your brick? Or something to that effect.

It might work if you do it on Saturday morning, but if you add the names and that gets it painted over, recruits and families may not see it. Or, what about painting the bricks but getting the commits fill in their own names - start with any of the first 8 who show. Then maybe Wharton/Kelly/Hurd can get the ones that are supposed to commit at the game to stop by and add their own names. Will it be a violation if the commits fill in their own bricks?!?!?!?! COMMIT AT THE ROCK!!!!
