Sly, I want to try and plan a big skiing trip for my family in the next 3 months. SWA now flies out of Nashville to Salt Lake. I've only skeed in Colorado, and like a DA, took my family to Gatlinburg and tried to throw some skiii's on my son and watched as some fool started going backwards near the ski stand and plowed over my son and about 3 other people.
I want to show them the mountains and splurge if I have to, as I have free SWA flights, and I don't know when we would be able to go again.

Let me know if you or anyone has advice. We aren't a skeeing family, and after looking on the internet to search, I'm already confused as to where to go. Is Park City near Salt Lake?

And I also don't know how to pluralize ski, and don't feel like looking it up.

hell naw. E'ry bill we can put on a CC is put on there. We just pay it off each month and get flights fo free. We hardly fly anywhere. I think I flew twice this year and wife not at all. They add up. If they expire, you can renew for $50, and you usually have a year to use, I believe.

I've been to numerous ski resorts in CO. The most family friendly place is Winter Park. Utah from what I hear has great skiing too. Sly can fill you in on those I'm sure. When I take my son for the first time, it will be Winter Park.

I'm trying to use these flights, so I can rationalize spending a little more on lodging. So I need to fly into Denver or Salt Lake, but I don't really want to have a 2 hr drive somewhere that could turn into 4-5 hours.

Fly to Denver. Breckinridge isn't a long drive from there and easy access once you get through the Eisenhower Tunnel. There is Vail and Beaver Creek but more expensive with a further drive. Keystone and CopperMtn are also easy accessible with good skiing and lodging.

Park City is about 30 miles from SLC. It's all interstate except for the last 4-5 miles. It's four lane divided from the time you get off the interstate to Park City.

Here's a link I put up for BP the other day that list the Utah resorts, amount of new snow, depth of the base and how many runs are open. Brighton, Alta and Snowbird are the closest to Park City. Unfortunately, the way the road winds and doubles back, it's about 35-40 miles to Alta and Snowbird from Park City. If you wanted to ski either of those, it would be easier, quicker and cheaper to stay somewhere around Sandy and drive up. Only about a 15 mile trip that way. Brighton is only about 10-12 miles from Park City by road.

Go to Google Map and type in Utah Ski Resorts. It will show you where all of them are. You can make a better choice that way. Most are going to be a bit north of Ogden and SSE of Salt Lake City.

If I was going to Utah, I'd stay in Park City and ski Brighton. Colorado would be Aspen for me. But, probably not a family trip. It's a couple f hundred miles from Denver.

That's where I go but unless you fly into Hayden it is a good 2 and half hour drive from Denver weather pending.

At least, gotta be 150 miles from Denver. Family would have to fly into Aspen, too. I'd just drive it alone for me.

I can't do Utah if i can't try and get my wife buzzed in her snow bunny suit.

Looks like I may try Keystone or Winter Park. Pretty affordable compared to some others and looks like the other to me. Lights, snow, buildings, mountains and lifts
