The only fight song listened to the words is Michigan's "Hail to the Victors" which may be the best fight song in college sports.
That song is disqualified from the list of great fight songs if for no other reason than because the people in Michigan seem to believe they are "Champions of the West." Given their geographical location coupled with their 4-10 Rose Bowl record since 1970, I would suggest they rewrite that stanza for accuracy's sake.
Donald Fagen, "New Frontier", from his first solo endeavor, The Nightfly. Dig that song.Yes we're gonna have a wingding
A summer smoker underground
It's just a dugout that my dad built
In case the reds decide to push the button down
We've got provisions and lots of beer
The key word is survival on the new frontier
Introduce me to that big blonde
She's got a touch of Tuesday Weld
She's wearing Ambush and a French twist
She's got us wild and she can tell
She loves to limbo, that much is clear
She's got the right dynamics for the new frontier
There is a place called Dwyers in Ft Myers that is Very cool ....large stone bldg with the stone all imported from Ireland. They have a band of three Irish girls that they fly over from Ireland once a month to play for three nights in a row. They are awesome. We were in the restaurant side having dinner and talking about how talented and hot these girls were ( an LSU, Bama, and Fl fan and myself) when all of a sudden there it was drifting from the bar.....I wish you could have seen their faces.I used to be a regular in an Irish pub in Alexandria, Virginia, and the trio that played three times a week always played "Rocky Top." The singer had a whole little spiel about how it meets the three criteria for being a great Irish song: longing for home, defending the homeland from foreign/governmental invasion, and, of course, drinking. Their renditions of it were usually awesome -- think of the Pogues covering it, and you have the basic idea.
Can't really say I like the "WHOO!" addition very much. (Unless we're really, really laying the wood to somebody.)
