Will the Pac 12 ever be a P5 again or is it going to resemble something like a Southwestern Conference with the leftovers after Texas and aTm left, had they kept the league together?

It will never be considered P5 ever again. Their best bet will be to become the best G5 conference, when the ACC inevitably has to raid the American of its best teams.

Only way the new Pac 12 would’ve come close to being a power conference would’ve been if they managed to get Tulane, Memphis, USF, UConn and UTSA to join. They’d have been by far the best G5 conference and arguably even better than much of the ACC and B12 had that gone through, but still not “power” level.

It's so sad. I moved to PAC 10 country in HS and always had it out with my friends about who had the best teams. It was a lot of fun. The PAC 10 was indeed mighty. I held it above the Big 10 for athletics. It is crazy how far it's fallen. Is Larry Scott the worst admin in NCAA history?

They REALLY need Stanford and Cal to come back. That would go a long way. However I dont see that happening unless the ACC folds when/if the likes of Clemson, FSU, Miami, North Carolina, etc bolt for SEC/Big 10

After 2032, It's only got 4 options

1) remain the only "west coast" conference and continue to try to sway California, Air Force and UNLV to maximize profits
2) if the SEC/Big 10 goes to 24, absorb the entire MWC, pick up other teams like New Mexico State, Sacramento State, North Dakota State and have every West Coast G5 team/FCS power to get to 24
3) if the SEC/Big 10 goes to 24, merge with the AAC to become the best non-P3 conference
4) Sit as is, and wait to see if the Big XII/ACC leftovers merge and give teams like San Diego State and Colorado State a lifeline

Stanford will be Big 10 bound with Notre Dame if that occurs....California will be on the Big 10 short list if they move to 24, but California would probably stay with the ACC/Big 12 leftovers after that

This feels more like they are bringing back the WAC than the Pac-12. The WAC gave way to the Moutain West then dropped football completely, and this just feels like undoing the MW and splitting back into the MW and WAC.

I get why they kept it going, because the name has history. But it reminds me of going to a concert for a classic rock band where the only original member left is the keyboardist.

The WAC right now could conceivably be

BYU
Utah
Boise St
ASU
Arizona
Wazzu
Oregon St
Wyoming
New Mexico
UNLV
Colorado
Colorado St
Stanford
Cal

That's a pretty good conference, and that's leaving out the Big 10 teams in this region.

I hate how far we've gotten away from regional rivalries.

I'd say it's more like going to a concert for a classic rock band and then arriving to discover it is a cover band.

I predicted when all left that they’d want back. I still think it will happen. UCLA, USC, etc playing in a east coast & Midwest conference is just stupid
