ALL SMOKE....It's gonna happen, OU is pushing it's weight around on trying to get Texas to even the money a little. Maybe OU comes this way....

If Auburn moves East, and the end-result is that we lose the Bama game, is it really necessary that everybody keep a permanent East/West opponent? Bama and Auburn may not go for that suggestion, but currently UT-Bama, AU-UGA, and I guess UF-LSU are the drivers of having a permanent opponent. Nobody really cares about the other permanent games, except that Ole Miss might want to be let out of playing Vandy. Perhaps they'd keep the Iron Bowl, and nothing else would be permanent.

they were trying to go to the big ten last year iirc...mizzou would take a sec bid in a heart beat

they've been one of the few "we have faith we can make the big 12 work" schools during this Year's process

Their owner is tied into being the head of too many boards (head of the board of directors, in charge of committees to find new big 12 members) and is too strongly tied to the conference. That's why the SEC's supposed offer was a "we're willing to wait for the big 12 to implode, deal"

OU isnt coming here.

If anything OU is pushing its weight around to try to gain more ground power-wise in the conference...

Does this give the SEC a shot with OU now? If the Big 12 doesn't comply with their demands??

We'd have to want to expand to 16 teams

And OU has made it clear they really don't like the idea of our conference and being in it

Mizzou is not going anywhere right now. Deaton is too tied to the B12 to make a move without the B12 imploding.

Bingo. Any saving of the big 12 likely pushes the door closed at the current moment

I agree that Slive needs to contact Oklahoma now. If they are willing to break ties with Oklahoma State, they can enter the SEC now. If they aren't willing to break ties, the opportunity might not be there in the future.

Besides that they're not willing to break ties with ok st, they sadly kinda view the conference as....."a joke"'s not the right word;

But all previous indications have show they find the idea of being in the SEC unpleasant and displeasing

Not clear to me why OU would think the rest of the SEC is inferior to them. Latest US News World Report Ranking has them tied at 101 (UT is also 101) in ranking of national universities. They've been in the NCAA doghouse a number of times too.
