When I hear that, it chaps my ass. The last time we were truly overhyped was 2005. Lazies like Danny Kennel do no homework. He also said we were not deep on the line. Lol!

Lol. Don't worry ab it. We know more about our team then these kanell types. He couldn't name 10 players on the team.

I loved Finebaum's response though, "So you're telling me that a Florida team that lost 42-14 to Michigan in their bowl game is going to beat Tennessee just because they named a transfer (Del Rio) their QB?"

Edit: I never thought I'd begin a sentence with "I loved Finebaum's response"

If you believe Northwestern was over-hyped at the end of last year, then I can get you believing that TN is as well. I am cautiously optimistic.

I think kanell was 0-4 on his playoff picks last yr too. Dude had Ohio State, Baylor, UGA and UCLA. Nobody should listen to kanell

i am very optimistic but yes, I believe we are a little over-hyped ... Mainly by the media, and it will set us up for a fall... if we happen to stumble(which is highly unlikely, I think we win 11), then everyone will pounce saying "yeah, we said it, they were overrated"... It is crazy we are 10th in a poll or two and we haven't really done anything yet except finish the second half of the season very strong and have a ton of talent returning with another year of experience under their belt. I must admit, the pressure is just as much on the staff to make the right game time decisions/adjustments and finish out games, as it is for the kids to perform for 4 quarters and finish close games... the players have definitely shown a considerable amount of improvement, the jury is still out on the staff.... we haven't played anyone since the middle of last season that would cause them to have to coach their arses off... I think that is the biggest unknown--- have the coaches improved and learned from their mistakes...

So, I have a question. My opinion is it's a given that UT will win the App. State game. But, what kind of score would make guys feel good, and what score would make you go "hmm". So if it's 55-3.. That's good. But, what if the score is like 34-20?

If Florida beats Umass and the score is 34-20 I would feel like there are some problems.

If we win 11, we will finish in the top 10. Not overhyped.

It depends. If we beat VT and UF, it does not matter.

Depends. If it was 34-6, and they scored 2 TD's in the last 4 minutes against 3rd string to get to 20, we'd huff and puff about our 3rd string, but no huge deal. If it's tied 20-20 in the 4th and we score twice late, then yeah, that's a bad sign.

Depends on when we started playing 2nd and 3rd string. :eek:hmy:

Good assessment. Based on the personnel returning, I have a hard time thinking it won't be a 50 point day for the UT offense, but I didn't realize App. State was 11th in total defense last season. That surprised the hell out of me. To put that in perspective, Clemson was 10th in total defense.

App St challenged Clemson for a quarter before giving up a couple of INT's in the 2nd qtr that turned the game.

UT should score north of 45 pts. They should allow less than 10 unless ASU scores late vs the back ups to the back ups. Anything 45-10 or better is good. Anything less than a 20 point win... would be uncomfortable. Anything less than a 10 point win would be very disconcerting.

If I was a UF fan I wouldn't be concerned with scoring 34 in an opener with a new QB and questions at WR, but I would be concerned if my defense (which is being touted as better than last season) gave up 20 to UMass. Unless of course it was due to the UF offense turning the ball over a lot deep in its own territory.

I expect some rust on the offense in the opener against ASU, at least in the first half, so if the game is fairly close at halftime I wouldn't be overly shocked. But we should overpower them in the 2nd half and walk away with it. Now if we don't pull away in the 2nd half I might have some slight concerns, but I won't have any real concerns unless we see the same problems in game 2.

But the fact is I expect we will beat ASU by at least 3 TDs.

I don't know what score would have me worried, but that is not necessarily an apt comparison unless we got to see UMass play Appy St.

I wonder what TN or FL's defensive stats would've been against the offensive powerhouses of:

Howard
Old Dominion
GA State
ULM
AR St (hung 40 on App St, btw)
Idaho
S Alabama
and so on
and so forth

I loved it in the bowl game when after the first drive the commentators, Rod Gilmore and the other guy (I forget) jumped all over how stingy the NW defense was and how they only give up an average of 13 pts a game, then we smoked them, beat them down, and Berry put the icing on the cake. Now, they were overrated!! Kannel is a class 1 idiot!
