Before Volnation is calling for Mcbride?

My number is 6. 2 three and outs and VN crashes.

Edit: I hope JG rocks out. I think we can win this game. I will be there ruining my vocal chords for the week. I will not be rooting for a QB change unless JG can't go.

I just hope we don't come out 5 wide to start the game again.

I imagine they are going to make things much simpler for JG this week.

Im predicting about 75% mix between run, screen, and short passes.

If this is the game plan, JG gonna stay in the whole game.

Will call read option several times with JG, offense will look mproved. John Kelly will have open running lanes. Then Tennessee will get inside the 20 then Butch will decide to take 7 step drop pass plays, or maybe an occasional reverse ( he has done this before on the goal line) 🤦*♂️ *♂️. Tennessee will kick fg's and get beat by touchdowns. I've seen this movie. It's called "coaching in fear the Butch Jones story"

Anybody calling for that is insane and just likes drama. JG was one of the top QBs in the country out of HS. McBride wasn’t on anybody’s radar.

I really don’t see a problem with coming out 5 wide or any other alignment for that matter, as long as we take full advantage of it.

Several times against UGA, we had Calloway single covered with very little backside help and never took advantage of it. The one time we did, QD underthrew him and got him hurt.

Or if we go 4 wide do a clear out to one side and run the other way. Just do something creative is my whole point. Our play calls make no attempt to set anything up for later. Results = 0 points and only 17 against one of the worst D1 teams in the country.

I see. My point is play it safe and conservative to start. Even if we come out 4 wide, please don't make JG go through his progressions and force him into a tough decision/situation. Start with something very simple and let him progressively build his confidence.

In the spring game, McBride did look like he throws a nice ball. 😬

Yeah. I’m good with that, just put them in a situation to succeed. Put 2 on each side, drag one across leaving 1 on 1 with Calloway and throw it up for grabs. Not many DBs will stop him unless the slam him on the ground, like happened last game

No idea, but since we're playing "what if".....

Vols are down by 14 at the half, 17-3. JG is 6-12 for 70 yds and two picks. Game not out of reach, but Vol offense still not clicking.

Stand, or try QD?

I watched some of QD's high school highlights and he looks impressive......quick release....accurate, etc. WTF happened on the way to Neyland?

I suggested this in another thread where he was getting bashed. I was thrilled when he committed to us. Thought the future was bright, who knew then we’d have a system that destroy’s a QB’s natural talent.

Whatever Butch decides will be wrong. Personally, depends on the picks and rushing yards by JG. If the picks were tip balls, but JG has 50 yards rushing, stick with him.

If it wasn't yr 5, should stick with him, but Butch is out of leash. Back to QD.

Exactly. And exactly what CBJ would not / won't do. Until it's 24-3 midway through the 3rd, at which point he puts in a cold and demoralized QD to try and climb that hill. QD pushes it; throws a pick; and we've seen this show before.

Hope not.

Go Vols.

Vols have to put this one on their defense and kicking game; protect JG by keeping it simple; and hope they can generate yards (and points) with the running game and short passes. UT wants a 17-14 type game. A 14 point deficit is probably game over.

SCe has a similar plan. Load the box and dare JG to beat them deep. Play field position. Be patient on offense. But SC will take their shots against our secondary here and there. Muschamp would be fine with a 7 point win.

If this game is in Columbia, it's a no-brainer. Only because it's in Neyland do I think UT can win it.

If the UT defense gets tired from being out there too long, or often, not good. Being 3-4 on October 22nd is probably enough to force Currie's hand.

I wouldn't lay money either way.

Go Vols. Prove me wrong about this staff. Please.

He got Butched. This staff has failed to develop QB's in all 5 years he's been here. Dobbs just had raw athleticism, and mechanics that could shine through on occasion. He could've been a superstar with proper development. Peterman and Ferguson are living proof of that.
