I am writing from a mud hut in Afghanistan. This week I saw an elderly man shot in the head in front of his children because he was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and the Taliban don't care about civilian casualties. I saw an Afghan policeman get filled in with his own AK because he was trying to steal from the wrong local. Another Afghan policeman had his throat slit as part of an intimidation campaign.

Losing to UK sucks, one of the dudes on my team is from Lexington, and I won't hear the end of this because it is the first time in his life that this has happened, but at the end of the day, Tennessee football should be something that brings joy to our lives. Next year there will still be orange checkerboards, Bray will throw for unbelievable touchdowns to great receivers, and Smokey will celebrate every score. It will once again be football time in Tennessee. Bringing a team back from where we have been is a processes. We should all recognize this. Then when Dooley has this program back on it's feet, we can say that we had faith. We where not fair-weather fans. We where there when it began. We can honestly say that we were always Volunteers.

-From a poster on VQ named USMC_VOL

Puts a little into perspective for all you guys that want to gripe and moan about everything.

No, it doesn't. If you're going to bring up the world importance card, UK might as well be the Taliban.

I appreciate what the armed forces have done just as much as the next person, but im sure there are some over there that don't think Dooley is worth a sh*t.

It's not meant to be funny. It's total bull**** to bring up world issues to try and relate the problems of UT football.

You must live a terrible life..he was just trying to be positive about the whole situation..while he's in Afghanistan for crying out loud.

Again, has nothing to do with the problems of UT football. I have no clue who the guy is and I thank him for his service.

Someone ALWAYS does this in these situations. Never fails.

OP, thanks for the dose of reality. May he return safely. Fed, you are so off base, you basically need professional help.

and you started this thread why? To try and make all the Dooley haters feel guilty?

So people could see it from a different perspective.

The guy might not ever get to see another UT game in his life, and he's putting a positive spin on things so people like you could stop whining and griping about every little thing.

I have family in the armed forces and i appreciate everything they do, but you are trying to play the guilty card with this thread and it's obvious. DD is a shi**y coach and that's not gonna change my opinion no matter who says he's not.

Don't think he was trying to change anyone's opinion about whether DD is a shi**y coach or not. Just pointing out that there are other things in the world that are more important that a bad season (or two) (or three) in college football.

JMO, IMHO etc etc

I thought he was trying to put a little perspective on things. I guess it's all in what you want to hear and see.
