We didn't play every SEC team pre 92. I think we rotated home and away with FL, LSU, MS, and GA. I'm not positive though.Sigh.
I miss the pre-92 days. You just played everyone else in the league. Simple. You knew exactly who was on your schedule the next year as well, you played the same teams. No whining about scheduling and assorted other crap. Win or lose, but no crying.
At this point-to hell with it. 18 game schedule for the regular season. Play all 15 teams in the league and 3 OOC games. These guys wanna act and get paid like pros-let them earn it
Might as well get some use out of the "entertainment district" as well
Get to work Stinky (Sankey). I wanna see YOU pressure the B10 on this one. You allowed them to bully you into a 9 game SEC schedule so now you have to redeem yourself
Florida also stayed relevant several mediocre years by beating us. They won’t have that to fall back on if they have a bad year. Good riddance. Let them, LSU, and Georgia beat each other senseless for a few years while we whip up on some struggling teams who don’t have a psychological edge on us.Typical TN luck to lose Florida as an annual rival the moment we finally get a streak going. We've beaten 3 out of the last 4 years and we would have pounded them in Neyland this year.
It doesn't seem right not having them on the schedule. It's the game I want the most each and every year.
This is just......idk...... stupidHas any other SEC team had worse luck with their scheduling than Tennessee? We have been put in situations where we play each SEC team at its all-time best, and then they rotate off our schedule when they get bad. The best case in point is Florida, but it goes deeper than that. Look at the following list:
Alabama
Played Bama every year of the Wallace Wade era
Played Bama every year of the Bear Bryant era
Played Bama every year of the Frank Thomas era
Played Bama every year of the Nick Saban era
Played Bama every year of the Gene Stallings era
Auburn
Played Auburn every year of the Pat Dye era
Played Auburn every year of the Shug Jordan era
Florida
Played Florida every year of the Steve Spurrier era
Played Florida every year of the Urban Meyer era
Georgia
Played UGA every year of Kirby Smart's era
Played UGA every year of the Mark Rhict era
Kentucky
Played UK every year of the Bear Bryant era
Played UK every year of the Mark Stoops era
Vandy
Played Vandy every year of the Dan McGugin era
Ole Miss
Played Ole Miss every year of the Johnny Vaught era
South Carolina
Played Carolina every year of the Steve Spurrier era
The only well-known SEC coach that we firmly dodged was Vince Dooley, and he cursed us with his son. I, for one, am happy to not be playing UGA anymore. We have done our time being the game for each of the well-known SEC coaches. This list probably keeps us from winning at least 4 more SEC titles.
Slow news day. Get some fresh air and go for a walk.Has any other SEC team had worse luck with their scheduling than Tennessee? Why even take the time to respond to an offseason thread on a Tennessee forum about Tennessee history? The irony is that your post is just another form of complaining, but you are apparently too clueless to pick up on thatI’m not going to sit here and complain about past schedules. Some of y’all need to always have something to complain about. It must be exhausting.
Played 6 every year. 5 every year and 4 rotated. We wouldn't see UGA and UF for six years at a time. Same with LSU and MSU. Others we played every year. Biggest rivals were Alabama and AuburnWe didn't play every SEC team pre 92. I think we rotated home and away with FL, LSU, MS, and GA. I'm not positive though.
We played Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Vandy every year. Played home and home for the 6th game on a rotating basis. So basically, we’d play LSU, Miss St. UGA and Florida every 6 or 7 years.
Oh really what gave it away? Was it the fact I put it in the OP or the fact that everyone knows Bear coached at UK. Anyone who thinks Bear is UK's all-time greatest coach because of some years in the 1940s vs Stoops in modern times coaching through the hardest the SEC has ever been is a fool.Bear Bryant coached at UK too genius and was better
So you are saying bear winning a SEC title and claimed NC at UK is not as good as Stoops having a sub .500 record ?Oh really what gave it away? Was it the fact I put it in the OP or the fact that everyone knows Bear coached at UK. Anyone who thinks Bear is UK's all-time greatest coach because of some years in the 1940s vs Stoops in modern times coaching through the hardest the SEC has ever been is a fool.
