I got to thinking and more than likely our offense is going to be fairly watered down on pass plays this year. the option spread stuff might get run ok but we are still going to need to run old school and throw the ball to have a chance at a big win or 2 this coming season. what worries me is we might have 10 to 15 plays that everyone will know how to run. i don't think the qb and wr's will be on the same page early on which could lead to turnovers. hope i am wrong though. and no i ain't a arm chair qb.

yeah but what i hate about cupcakes is the effort just falls off a cliff once we get a decent lead even with fulmer teams this happened. part of it is experience i know but sometimes i think the players just step off the throttle relax and don't worry once we get a big lead. but hey maybe jones will fix all that.

We have 2 cupcakes early to get some practice before Oregon and Florida.

Trust me! Bobby Petrino & the HillToppers will be ready for us.

Do you recall the UAB game? Do you recall the Troy game?

I would not refer to any team as a cupcake at this point because we don't know what our team is capable of yet.

I think people forget Petrino is at WKU.

I couldn't agree more, the Western Ky game will be extremely tough for the ailing Vols, thus the 3-9 or 4-8 prediction....scoring points this year will be very hard

Petrino will have plenty of tricks up his sleeves against our D that was porous last year and learning a new scheme this year. I expect the Western game to be close and possibly they pull the upset.

What was his record at Arkansas his first year? I wouldn't worry too much about Petrino. Great coach, but it will take him a few years to get his system implemented and WKU does not have the talent to match up against UT.

It's gonna be ugly on offense for about half the season I am afraid.

New system+new QB+ new WR+ mediocre RB+solid o line= a lot of missed plays and vanilla offense until the playbook is expanded.

They aren't learning a new scheme....pretty much every player knows their job in a 4-3....We ran a 3-4 for one year. I'm sure they can remember the system that they ran before that......btw we will blow out wku no matter who the coach is. They don't have the talent, size, or speed. I'll go ahead and say we win 52-7.

If you think our D holds a Petrino offense (even at WKU), to 7 points then I have some land I need to sell you. It's ocean front and you'll love it.

At the end of last season we had pretty much gone back to the 4-3 and ditched the 3-4...and we still sucked. Could have been Sal, could have been any number of things but it is going to take time for this coaching staff to instill proper form, alignment, and technique. That is if they can (not giving them the benefit of the doubt).

Sorry George but we will simply run through them like every other weak team we play......that is unless they have a bunch of Ladanian Tomlinsons and Ray Lewis' that you know about that no one else does. Yes UT isn't the team from the 90s but come on. UT is still a good team and they have a lot of talented players, even on D, just a bunch of screwballs teaching them. As far as the new staff teaching technique and terminology, that's why there is an off season

With the oline being solid up front the running game can be vanilla for a few games and still be a plus. CJG will have the running backs ready. Neal has a breakout season with CJG coaching him up and another year behind the meat eaters will help. The passing game will be a ? until someone steps up at QB and rallies the troops behind him. The D should be a big improvement from last year so look for a few of the close games to be won. I think overall the whole team will be fired up for this season as the Reckoning has begun in Knoxville!!!!!!!!! GBO!!!!!!

WKU had a good season last year. Recruiting will most likely be up for them, and Petrino knows what he's doing. Tennessee will win, but not 52-7. Probably more like 31-27ish

Just hoping we aren't so pass happy... see Florida game second half

Good point...Im looking for more balance. Not just run/pass balance, but offence/defence as well. More TOP alone will help our defence, which might be the most "talented" side of the ball this year. Hopeing for some games in the teens and twentys this year...UT winning of course.

They are also in a bottom of the barrell conference so that's not impressive to me....not calling you out in just saying
